Description

Teepookana River Retreat is an absolute must for families or couples wanting to “get away from it all” and spend some time in a very remote, exclusive part of the Murray River.

Located between Echuca and Barmah, The Retreat is only 250m from the Murray on the banks of the Deep Creek, a wide and deep creek permanently filled from the Murray.

Teepookana River Retreat has been a private retreat since the mid 70’s and has been opened to the public by Di and Roland Huber.

Teepookana River Retreat is only a 15 min drive from the Barmah Forest, the largest River Redgum wetlands in the world, and only a 25 min drive to the famous Historic Port of Echuca with it's Paddlesteamers.

Both The Barmah Forest and Echuca are also accessible by boat from The Retreat.

Teepookana River Retreat is also only a 20 min drive to the quiet little country town of Nathalia which offers a large range of Art, Cultural and Environmental activities.

Activities within and from The Retreat:

Bring your push bikes and enjoy a 2-3 hour ride through the forest reserve along the Murray River into Barmah and back.

Bring your canoes/kayaks or we can arrange the hire of them from Gondwana Canoe Hire for some sensational trips from the Barmah Lakes or Barmah Township back to The Retreat, or maybe you would prefer a leisurely paddle up the peaceful & quiet Deep Creek.

Take a dip in our heated inground pool or in the Deep Creek.

Try some excellent fishing in the Deep Creek or Murray River, either from the bank or with your boat.

Try some bush walking in the forest reserve between the Retreat and Barmah along the Murray River.

This whole region is also a must for photographers, artists and bird watchers.


Onsite Facilities:

Teepookana River Retreat, is fully self contained and consists of two units which can accommodate up to 8 people. It is equipped with three bedrooms, a full kitchen, dining and lounge areas, 2 ensuite bathrooms and laundry facilities.

A fully equipped undercover BBQ area and solar heated swimming pool are also available for guests to use. (The swimming pool is open from September - April)
