Well located for beaches, Leeuwin Naturaliste National Park and all the major wineries - Leeuwin Estate, Voyager Estate, Redgate, Cape Mentelle, Xanadu, Eagle Vale etc etc, this delightful cottage offers walking, bird-watching, relaxation in a restful rustic setting.
Cosy and simple, the wood fire will keep you toasty warm in the cooler months, and the excellent insulation qualities of the straw bale construction keep it cool during the heat of the summer.

The cottage has one queen bedroom with TV, and a second bedroom with bunks, with any extra guests able to use camp beds if required. There is a sheltered outdoor area for bbq dining, as well as a wood fired bread oven for the adventurous!!
Bring some carrots to feed the donkeys - they'll love you for it! There are chooks, guinea fowl, parrots, peacocks, pigeons, guinea pigs, a pig and two alpacas.

Bookings for 2 days or more preferred.

  • "What a unique property, if your looking for a place where the kids can be free to enjoy nature and animals in a safe environment this is definately it. If your looking for a place to snuggle up in front of a roaring wood fire this is it. will definately return when my batteries need recharging again. "

  • "Just a beautiful place to stay. The chalet is delightful, decor is great, very warm and cosy and being able to have a log fire at night was fantastic. The setting could not be better - out of the front door to just lovely countryside. Peacocks visit, hens run free and the donkeys and the llama are really friendly. Our dogs were made really welcome and they enjoyed the country walks available on the farm. Very central to all the delights of Margaret River. Wish we could have stayed longer and would certainly go again if the opportunity arises."

  • "We had a lovely, and relaxing stay. The cottage itself was well cleaned, warm and very homely. We were welcomed by a ready made fire, which was wonderful as we arrived at 11pm. And In the morning we were greeted by the peacocks at our front door. If you enjoy unique experiences then this is for you. Highly recommended."

  • "We had a lovely time here @ Birchfield in Witchcliff. The fire was roaring when we arrived on a windy wet day so it was absolutely beautiful to walk into. The cottage it self is just breath taking it quaint and unique which adds to the charcter or the property. There are two Donkeys and one Horsey. An Alpaca ( or my partner says lama? ~ what ever lol ) the beds room are cute little private alcoves where the inside of each is diverse in it own special way. The locks and rustic finish just set the scene for ad adventurous yet romantic get/hideaway..This is the perfect for us :)"

  • "Great place for a quiet weekend with so much to do in the area aswell."
    Joe, February 2008

  • "Fantastic escape from the world, would loved to have stayed longer, we stayed at this particular place because it is made of strawbales and we are interested in anything that stays a constant 21 degrees. Fantastic. If you are looking for first class and glitz and glamour this is not for you. If you love a quite, relaxed, humble stay this is for you. Enjoy, we did, thanks"
