Kalinda is an absolutely unique experience, a very relaxed and comfortable home, located in a truly magnificent corner of Sydney harbour. We take a lot of care in providing a tasteful and attractive space for our guests to enjoy that is not a holiday house, but truly a home away from home. Being so integrated into the beautiful atmosphere of Mosman Bay, you will feel that you're actually living on the water and will not want to leave.
The property is a charming 2 bedroom apartment with fabulous views over Mosman Bay. With our recent renovation we've taken particular care with the quality of material and finishes. Highlights include the black bean hardwood timber floors, limestone bathroom and gourmet kitchen with African mahogany benchtops.
The house sleeps 4 comfortably with a pull-out 5th trundle bed. The main King Size bedroom is gorgeous, with folding glass doors onto the verandah and the 2nd bedroom has a pair of bunk beds. The carefully planned European kitchen is equipped with many extras to encourage you to exercise your culinary talents!
The block of 5 apartments share a lovely, shady garden with BBQ area, right on the water's edge. The home has a very nice holiday feel to it, especially the large open verandah with expansive views of the passing sailboats and ferries. The regular Sydney ferry service is 20m away and it's a 7 minute ride to Circular Quay (downtown Sydney).
Kalinda is superbly located to enjoy the many attractions of this city and staying here you will get a great feel for an authentic Sydney lifestyle.
Kalinda means "lookout" and Goram Bullagong is the aboriginal name for Mosman Bay. It was originally inhabited by the Cammeragal clan of the Guringai people, and after the first European settlers arrived in the 1800's a whaling station was set up here. Today it is a delightful inner city residential area with a enchanting character.
There are three ferry wharfs along the Bay serving the residential communities on either side. The regular chugging of the historic Sydney ferry service marks the passing of the day. Mosman Rowers Club and the CYCA yacht club are both located here, providing an endless kaleidoscope of nautical images and sounds. In the evenings it all quietens down and the only sounds are the lapping of the waters and the tinging of the halyard ropes on the masts of the moored sailing boats, literally meters from your bed. You will feel that you're afloat yourself, until you're greeted in the morning by a cacophony of native birds and the first ferry coming over to pick-up the daily commuters for work.
Mosman has plenty of local attractions, including the world-famous Taronga Zoo, some of Sydney's best foreshore walks and the charming Mosman village with it's cafe culture, boutique outlets, galleries and superb restaurants. There are some of the best harbour beaches in Sydney here, most notably Balmoral Beach (a favourite spot for Sydney locals), Clifton Gardens and Chinamans Beach as well as a few of Sydney's naturalist beaches if that is your taste.
Public transport from Kalinda is a breeze. The ferry wharf to Circular Quay is metres away and gets you into the heart of the action on a delightful 7 minute ride, offering the best views of Sydney's classic icons (Opera House, Harbour Bridge and City Skyline). Circular Quay is a public transport hub that will hook you up with the city's extensive bus, ferry, train and taxi services. There is a bus stop outside our front door and the bus coordinates with the ferry. There are two regular bus services, one to Balmoral Beach (the other side of Mosman) and the other up to Spit Junction, through the heart of Mosman Village. You could also splash out on a water taxi, that will shuttle you over to almost anywhere on the harbour you wish to go. Perfect for reaching those tucked away little beaches or the many waterside restaurants on the harbour.
