Where is Yarra St James?

Yarra St. James is located less than 6km from the Melbourne Central Business District CBD in leafy Hawthorn, just over the Yarra from Richmond.

Yarra parkland, St. James Park, and public transport are all within walking distance: it is only a 2-minute walk to Hawthorn railway station for trains directly into Melbourne, or alight at Richmond Station (5 min) for the Rod Laver arena and MCG.
Alternatively, there is a tramstop at the end of the street, so hop on a tram for the same destinations via the famous Bridge Road Richmond shopping strip (or walk there).
Just a stroll in the other direction to Swinburne university, and also close to Scotch College, Xavier, MLC, Strathcona Hawthorn and St. Kevins schools.

Easy access from Citilink/Monash Freeway.

Hawthorn (post code 3122) is a prestige Melbourne suburb bordered by Kew, Richmond, Toorak and Camberwell.

Hawthorn can be reached from Tullamarine (Melbourne) Airport within 30 minutes via the Tullamarine Freeway and Citylink (Tollway) exit after the Burnley Tunnel via the Burnley Street exit. Citylink continues as the Monash Freeway after Toorak Road to the South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
Trains run from the nearby Hawthorn station frequently and the ride into Melbourne CBD takes about 10 minutes.Trams are also frequent.
Walking and cycling tracks to the city are close by along the Yarra.
Local shops are a 5 minute walk away and include a supermarket, several restaurants, take-away food shops and a video store.

  • "This apartment was spacious, modern, and fully equipped to enjoy Melbourne. Train station is 2 minutes walk away, tram stop is 2 minutes walk away for a tram directly into the city ($3.70 fare). We also found the taxi service in Melbourne excellent $12-$20 to Southbank. Apartment had high quality bedding, all kitchen facilities and a full laundry. The apartment was equipped with basic items in the kitchen meaning no need to buy salt, pepper, sugar etc. Apartment is top floor so no noise above you, however there are 4 flights of stairs to climb (although our 70 year old friend had no problems). We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others."

Everything we needed was there, just like "home from home". It's close to shops and numerous restaurants, pubs, cafes and takeaways. As the train station is only a couple of minutes walk away at the most it makes travelling into Melbourne city centre really easy and as the information says the apartment is surprisingly quiet given how close the station is. I would highly recommend this apartment and would most definitely stay here again."
