Apartment facilities

Ocean Break has two queensize bedrooms with ensuites and is designed to accommodate two couples or a family of four in comfort. From the lightfilled bedroom on the upper level guests can look along the southern deck to the ocean.

The second bedroom is on the lower level and also has beautiful views out to sea. In front of the lower bedroom is a second outdoor sitting area so that two couples can separately enjoy views of the ocean should you wish to have your own spaces.

We believe that Ocean Break has been furnished and equipped to a high level in order that our guests enjoy a beach holiday that will refresh and restore. To this end we include linen and house towels to make life easier for you. All you have to bring are your beach towels.

Stay for seven nights, pay only for six.

The owners reserve the right to require a bond for any booking

Four days in paradise - unit is perfectly designed for 2 couples. We're impressed the way you listen to guests' comments and make improvements accordingly. Every aspect of Ocean Break is commendable.
Furniture, fittings, bedding - all excellent and every appliance worked. The smaller touches of games and binoculars (which were a treat watching the Sydney-Hobart fleet pass by) show your consideration to making Ocean Break a flawless and enjoyable experience. Accolades to the cleaning folk who presented the apartment in spotless condition. We sure hope to experience the treats that Ocean Break provides again.

We had a terrific stay here at Ocean Break. Relaxing on the balcony enjoying the view was exactly what we wanted. We planned to eat out most of the time, but with such a well equipped kitchen we ended cooking some meals in.

This is such a wonderful place to stay for a holiday; it's got everything, views, beach, comfort and beautiful wildlife. It's really cool how the sand squeaks. We all went to Headland Point and fished off the rocks. When we were about to leave we saw a small whale very close to the rocks, we waited a bit longer and 4 southern right whales passed us. Thank you for this lovely holiday, hope to be back soon.

What a wonderful relaxing week we've had: sightseeing, walking, reading. We couldn't have asked for more perfect weather for mid-winter. ...I've never come across such a well equipped kitchen - it even inspired me to go out and buy ingredients for a muffin recipe I found in one of the magazines here. Thank you for providing such clean, well equipped accommodation. I'm sure we will be returning in the not too distant future.

As I write this I can't believe that our 2 week stay is already over. We've had a most memorable time here at Ocean Break. The apartment is perfect and an absolute credit to you Marilyn. We have watched dolphins entertain us in the surf as we had our breakfast on the balcony. This was a magical moment for us all. We have watched and listened in awe at the power of the ocean and it has soothed and refreshed us.Ocean Break has been the perfect base to explore the beautiful Sapphire Coast. The house was just brilliant with everything that you could want with a totally amazing view which allowed you to totally relax and unwind while watching whales frolic offshore. Hi Marilyn,
Good stay, the house was great. The balcony and opening doors (which let in the beautiful cool breeze) were definitely a highlight. We saw whales, southern right whales from the balcony and rejoiced in the sunny atmosphere and sensuous prospect before us.
We liked the artwork, the towels, linen and kitchenware. All in all thanks Marilyn for a great stay.

Perfect place to stay for a great holiday!! Close to everything and had everything we ever needed (great kitchen set up). Loved the local bird wildlife that stopped by too. The private access to the beach was wonderful and perfect for afternoon strolls. Fantastic set-up with and highly recommended for couples as there is so much privacy.

Sorry that I haven't e-mailed sooner, we just wanted to say that we had a fantastic three days at Tura Beach. Your house was more than we could have hoped for and was by far the best accommodation we stayed in. We wished that we could have stayed longer at Ocean Break. Thanks once again, Ocean Break and Australia was fabulous, we fly back to the UK today a little bit sad to be leaving.

We had a wonderful week, the highlight being watching the whales from the balcony. The visiting lorikeets have also kept us amused. Of all the places we have stayed this has to be one of the best (and we have stayed in lots of accom),
We have already planned to come back as we have enjoyed ourselves so much. Now it's back to the grind, but at least we are much relaxed and rested.

Enjoyed the stay very much. The views are superb and the accommodation is a home away from home. Only downside is sadly we need to go back home soon. The rainbow lorikeets were cheeky companions and greeted us without fail each morning. We will be back. Hopefully sooner than later.

Thanks for the use of the apartment and ordering a week of 23 - 26 degrees, sunny weather in August.Rachel and I loved our breakfast friends in the morning. We had beautiful birds eating literally out of our hands in the balcony every morning.

We have greatly enjoyed our short stay at Ocean Break. The apartment had everything we needed, even Scrabble. We salute you for your attention to detail in furnishing the apartment. It's such a peaceful place, we didn't hear any cars or motorbikes, just birds and the soft roar of the waves.
We will stay here again and won't hesitate to recommend Ocean Break to our friends.

Thank you for your very generous offer of a week at your beach house as part of the recovery process following the Victorian Feb. Bushfires during which we lost our home, sheds and all our farm equipment plus 3 head of cattle. We enjoyed staying in your very comfortable home. We do appreciate your kindness.

Features of the area

Three minutes walk through the ti trees brings you to the beach. You can swim off the southern end, between the flags in the summer holiday season. Rips elsewhere make swimming inadvisable. The long beach is, however, ideal for a leisurely amble or a more energetic jog.

Within five minutes drive of Ocean Break are the cafes, restaurants and boutique shops of Merimbula. Alternatively you could walk to the shops in Tura Beach for your groceries at the large Woolworths. The Tura Beach Country Club and the Tura Beach Tavern are within walking distance or a very short drive away. Ocean Break is well placed for you to play a round of golf or to explore the beautiful Bega Valley Shire should you feel like being more active.

FISHING

The Sapphire Coast is a great place to fish and there are many options from rock fishing, reef fishing, deep sea fishing, kingfish charters, game fishing and of course beach fishing from many of the beautiful beaches in the area. Tura Beach itself is a favourite spot for fishing and you can walk to the beach in 3 minutes from Ocean Break. Your accommodation is within easy driving distance to some of the best inshore and offshore fishing in NSW where you will have the opportunity to catch fish including marlin, yellowfin tuna, bluefin tuna, kingfish, snapper, sea bream, trumpeter, and flathead.

Of course there are many other species in the pristine waters of the Coast. Our waters are indeed rich and with a little local knowledge, homework and a bit of luck your angling aspirations can be fulfilled!

GOLF

There is championship golf course with wonderful ocean views at the Tura Beach Country Club which is only a 3 minute drive from Ocean Break. The 18 hole course was opened in 1982 and was designed by Peter Thomson and Mike Woolveridge. Since that time it has matured into a picturesque and challenging course for golfers of all levels. In 2011 it was rated as number 74 in the top 100 public access courses in Australia published by Golf Australia Magazine.

As well as the Tura course there are several other courses on the Sapphire Coast within easy driving from Ocean Break. Experience the garden-like 27 hole course at Pambula-Merimbula Golf Club where wildlife graze unconcernedly. Try your luck at Bega Country Club where fairways wind between 200-year-old gum trees. Take up the challenge of the 9-hole course at Tathra Beach Country Club located just behind the main beach. Appreciate the scenic, rolling fairways of Eden Gardens Country Club which has been described as the "Augusta National of the South Coast".

There is a 9 hole course and an 18 hole pitch & put at Mandeni Resort Golf Centre together with an 18 hole mini golf and a water driving range. At Bermagui there is an 18 hole course set in beautiful surroundings with wonderful views.

All in all you will be spoilt for choice on the Sapphire Coast if you are a golf enthusiast.

WHALE WATCHING

The whale watching season is from September to November and sometimes into December. While we cannot guarantee that you will see whales from the balcony many of our guests have experienced this thrill:

"Binoculars were a great bonus, specially for viewing the whales. The highlight of the stay, if you have not viewed this species in full flight then make sure you stay over this season (Sept-Nov). Fantastic vantage point and the thrill of seeing these beautiful mammals is something we will never forget."

As well there are whale watching cruises based in both Merimbula and Eden. From September through to early December large numbers of humpback whales travel past Merimbula. In the waters of the Sapphire Coast they can be seen lateral lunge feeding, one of the few places in the world where humpbacks can be observed doing this. Other species of whales and sea creatures may be seen on cruises, including Common & Bottlenose Dolphins, Australian Fur Seals, penguins, flying fish, sunfish, turtles and many species of sea birds.

BIRDWATCHING
