Description

Situated approximately 65 km (~50 mins drive) north east of Perth CBD, Yira Katta is a 60-acre property, formerly part of the historic farm “Melrose”, and situated high above Lower Chittering. The setting is magnificent, with superb 360 degree views of the scenic, undulating countryside. The homestead is modern and comfortable, with a huge lounge, games and dining area, fully equipped kitchen, two double bedrooms and study (doubling as an extra sleeping area with futon sofa bunk bed and trundle bed). The property sleeps up to 4 adults and 4 children (8 max).

Evaporative air conditioning and shady verandahs keep the homestead cool in summer and the heated outdoor spa, located in the gazebo in the beautiful gardens, can be used year-round. A wood burning stove provides ample heating in the cooler months. The property includes TV/DVD/stereo, a pool/snooker table with all accessories, dart board with darts, Playstation with 2 controllers and games, selection of books, magazines, board games and jigsaw puzzles. A large garage and shed can be used to park several cars. A cosy cabin, a short walk from the house, has power and light, and can be used by the kids to escape the adults!

The property is close to 5 vineyards - Stringybark has a lovely restaurant while the others provide wine and olive tastings from the cellar doors. Wildflowers are magnificent in spring and there are plenty of walk trails in the valley to allow exploration of the Brockman River and surrounding countryside.

The property is very well set-up for relaxing breaks away from the stress of city life and contains everything required for an enjoyable holiday. It is equally suitable for couples looking forward to a romantic weekend and for families looking for a refreshing outdoor holiday, away from their usual environment. Sleeping up to 8 people (4 adults & 4 kids), Yira Katta is also suitable for a getaway with friends.

Guest Reviews

  • "We had a wonderful relaxing week away and even though there are many local wineries in the area we didn't leave the property once! The house is well equipped and we made good use of a lovely outside eating area with views of rolling hills in every direction. It is a great getaway from the city with rabbits running around and parrots nesting in the trees above your head."

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Yira Katta. Quiet, peaceful surroundings, hot outdoor spa and a comfortable house made our holiday truly special. I would thouroughly recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for a total break from it all. Lunch or dinner at the Stringybark restaurant is also very worthwhile. We are planning a return visit soon."

  • "We had a great time at Yira Katta, it's a little out of the way, but if you want to get away from it all this is the place. there was not one thing the place didn't have, the views are great and there is a great littleshopping centre down the road also a bottle shop just in case. We will go back again and would recoment it to our friends."

  • "We had a lovely stay at the property, propped high atop a hill! It was just gorgeous with plenty of room for all of us! We were pleasantly surprised to find a play room filled with books, magazines, lego, boardgames and lots of other fun and useful things for the whole family. We highly recommend staying at this lovely spot! Please note that there is no mobile phone reception unless in the local town and landline only calls to local area, so its a good idea to pass on the properties phone number to friends and family so they can call you! Also, town shops are only open in the morning on the weekend!"

  • "We enjoyed our stay in Yira Katta homestead immensely! Since we live in a big city, it was a great escape for us to get back in contact with nature again in this wonderfully set house on top of a hill overlook the spectacular Chittering Valley scenery. The house was well equipped with everything we needed, and the local shopping centre and supermarket was a short pleasant drive away. There is also plenty to do in the local area if you want to go out exploring, or sightseeing, not to mention over 50 wineries in the area. This is definitely one place we plan to visit again!"

  • "What a brilliant weekend!!!! From the views to the wonderfully relaxing environment - it was all wonderful. We watched a magnificent thunderstorm from the front verandah - can't get much better than that! Will definately be back in the Winter - hopefully for longer. I also have to recommend the Chittering Wine Trail - well worth a look."
