Description

Wren cottage is a baltic-lined 2-roomed cottage in the grounds of one of Hobart's grand Federation mansions. Completely refurbished with level access and suitable for wheelchairs, we offer peace and quiet comfort away from busy traffic yet so close to Hobart' waterfront-only a 5 minute drive or 20-30 minute level stroll. North Hobart's vibrant ,cosmopolitan restaurant strip, and Australia's oldest picture theatre, is only a 10 minute easy stroll.
Wren has a wonderful king-sized bed (or twin beds if desired),a small kitchenette and walk-in shower in the large new bathroom. Blackwood french doors lead into a warm sunny atrium, perfect for relaxing in after a busy day sightseeing! Alternatively you might like to wander in our unique garden on a basketball court complete with citrus grove and fish ponds, sample the fruit, herbs and chillies, or take a grand tour of magnificent Federation "Werndee", built in 1903 for the Premier of Tasmania, Sir Neil Elliott Lewis. It has since been home to hundreds of Tasmanian and overseas students in it's various incarnations as Hostel and School of Hospitality, before being magnificently restored as a family home.

Guest Reviews

  • "Ideal for our Hobart holiday. Very clean and comfortable. Made to feel most welcome."
    Alan, March 2008

  • "Situated a short distance from the city, The Wren proved to be a perfect place as a starting point to explore the surrounding national parks and tourist attractions. The Wren had a pleasing relaxed atmosphere, and the apartment was well appointed with everything needed for our stay. Our hosts were warm and welcoming, and most helpful in making our stay comfortable and enjoyable. An added bonus was the privilege of picking berries from the garden and a guided tour of the property. "
    Doug and Brenda, March 2008

  • "North Hobart is an excellent location and Wren was perfect, comfortable and historic beauty. A beautiful stroll to a wide choice of restaurants, cafes and amenities on route to the CBD, the best of both worlds. Thank you for a very comfortable and welcome stay. When back in Hobart we will return to stay at Wren."

  • "Very pleasant and very comfortable. A little way out of the city so having a car is useful, otherwise it's about a 25 minute walk in. Close to North Hobart and some very good restaurants (about 10 mins away)"
