General Description

This property has been set up to suit holiday rentals by two families together or a group of adults. It is located in a quiet street six minutes walk from the Red Rocks beach which is a sheltered Bay beach suitable for younger children. The house has two storeys and the upper level has large windows with some distant views of the Bay through the shoreline tree tops. It has a private garden with mature native trees and there is off street parking for two cars and further parking on two street frontages. The garden is fenced to contain toddlers and both the internal and external stairs have toddler gates at the top. Well behaved pets are welcome inside the house, and the gates can be arranged to let a dog have the run of the garden. Small dogs may however be able to escape under the fence gates into the street.

The property is 3km from central Cowes on a very quiet street, and there are pleasant walks along the fire track behind the beach and on the beach itself, with lots of bird activity in the vicinity. Evening walks are likely to encounter rabbits and sometimes an echidna or a wallaby. The nearest shop is a kiosk servicing a caravan park, which is about ten minutes walk from the house. It offers bread, milk, newspapers and other staples.

Features and Details

- Two upstairs bedrooms each with queen size beds.
- A third downstairs bedroom with a queen size bed and a single bed/day bed.
- A large downstairs bunk room with a bunk set of two single beds and a second bunk set of a single bed above a futon sofa/double bed. This room is also set up with a TV and an AM/FM radio/CD/DVD player and with a small table and four chairs for board games or similar activities. The bunk room walls have been soundproofed to reduce sound transfer to or from the rest of the house.
- An upstairs open plan living/dining/kitchen area with an easily cleaned cork floor and facilities and place settings for 12 people to dine together at a large table. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, electric stove and oven, a 540 litre fridge/freezer and a range of appliances and utensils. A small rainwater tank provides a limited supply of roof water for drinking. The living area has four sofas and its own TV and AM/FM radio/CD/DVD player.
- A large upper level deck opening off the living area and set up with outdoor furniture, a gas barbecue and a hammock. The deck faces west, has an adjustable awning for sun shading, and offers distant glimpses of the bay. The crowns of the garden trees are adjacent, giving opportunities for close-up bird watching.
- Passive solar heating upstairs in winter, supplemented by individual electric room heaters.
- External awnings to shade the windows and prevent excessive solar heating on sunny days.
- Ceiling fans in each of the upstairs rooms, and wall unit air conditioners in the west facing living room and in the west facing upstairs bedroom.
- A downstairs bathroom which has a toilet, a basin and a bath with a shower.
- An upstairs bathroom which has a water jet spa bath, a shower recess, a basin and a wall mounted hair dryer. There is a separate toilet adjacent to this bathroom.
- A laundry area with washing machine, dryer and ironing facilities
- An outside hot and cold shower for washing off the sand when returning from the beach.
- An attached garage converted into a table tennis room. This has a table tennis table which can be used conventionally or else have one end raised as a back wall for individual practice. There is also a hookey set.
- A bassinet with a mattress 103 cm long and a high chair.
- Board games, jigsaw puzzles and a selection of books.
- Hot water supplied from an all weather bottled gas storage heater which is itself supplied from a large solar system on the roof. This arrangement provides ample hot water for a large party during the sunny months provided that the Island’s mains water supply is adequate.
- A substantial fenced garden area with mature trees and a retro style concrete pebble gas barbecue.
We also offer a nearby single level house at Cypress Court that sleeps 14 with similar access to the same beach.

  • "We had 6 adults & 6 kids (2dogs), as soon as we walked in we were blown away by how spacious it was & very well equiped, no need to bring anything. The house is so welcoming and the decor was lovely & warm. The rooms were spacious and perfect for the adults and for the kids to relax in on their own. The beach was so close for our daily walks and bike rides. The views from the decking was so beautiful and breathtaking. We had visitors dropping in and they were so impressed by the space and layout. We were so sad leaving this beautiful house but we are already planning the next trip. The owners and real estate agents were so kind and helpful. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this house. "

  • "What a fantastic house! We stayed for a few nights with 5 adults and 5 children and there was more than enough room for everyone. The enormous dining table was fantastic and the kitchen was so well equipped. They even have plastic bowls etc for the kids. The children also loved having their own little domain with a TV and DVD/music system. We will definately be back with the kids and for an adults only weekend!"

  • "This house is fabulous! It is spacious, inviting and relaxing. I stayed with a group of 12 adults and there was more than enough room for us to spread out and not trip over each other. Every mod con is available as well as great little touches in the kitchen (like a mortar and pestle and espresso machine as well as a few staples in the pantry!) The house and furnishings are lovely, we almost cried when we had to leave!! I'll certainly be returning and the owners are extremely communicative and friendly! An absolute pleasure to stay here, cannot recommend highly enough! :-)"
