Nestled amongst the native flora in Robe's most exclusive street, Grandpa's Boatshed offers total relaxation, luxury and seclusion.
Built by the owner's grandfather out of local limestone in the 1960s, it was originally used as a boatshed and then as a favourite family holiday destination enjoyed by four generations.
Recent extensive renovations have transformed the boatshed into a spacious, contemporary retreat. With a superbly appointed interior - fully equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances, modern bathroom with spa and three bedrooms made up with luxury linen and towels - you are invited to relax and enjoy.
Unwind on arrival and enjoy a complimentary bottle of local wine. Local gourmet breakfast provisions for your first morning are supplied including fresh bread, bacon, eggs and tomato along with a selection of teas and ground coffee.
Dine alfresco in the protected outdoor entertaining area, then wander down the bush track to the outlet where the lakes flow into the ocean, stroll across the footbridge and onto the beautiful Long Beach. A ten minute stroll along the clifftop track will take you into the heart of downtown Robe for superb dining, shopping and galleries.
A perfect getaway for couples, friends and small families.
One of South Australia's premier seaside destinations, the historic township of Robe is also renowned as a fishing port where crayboats fish daily in summer for their quota of Southern Rock Lobster - known simply as crayfish to the locals.
The magnificent Long Beach is one of the very few beaches left on which vehicles are still allowed to be driven - soak up the sun, swim, surf or just go fishing!
Explore the history of Robe along the heritage walk, taking you through the heart of the southern port or along one of the many bush walking tracks around the perimeter of the town or along the clifftops to the beaches.
Indulge yourself at one of the many vibrant cafes, restaurants and pubs, renowned for their superb meals and use of regional produce.
A ten minute drive from Robe will take you to the local Mount Benson wine area - terra rossa by the sea with the other red centre, the renowned Coonawarra wine district, an easy hour's drive away. Also within an hour are the Tantanoola Caves, world heritage listed Naracoorte Caves and the other southern ports of Beachport and Southend.
Whether you plan to laze on the beach with a good book, indulge in fresh seafood, regional produce and great coffee, take leisurely sunset strolls along a deserted beach at low tide and just relax - or if you plan to immerse yourself in the beach culture with swimming, surfing, body boarding, fishing, four wheel driving, skiing, kite boarding, diving and kayaking - you'll love Robe!
