Description

Surfcoast Beachhouse is a new architect designed house built in a perfect location to enjoy a relaxing break away whatever time of the year it is.
Downstairs the house has 4 large bedrooms and comfortably sleeps 8. Two bedrooms have q/s beds, the other two each have 2 king size singles. All bedrooms have w.i.r's and electric panel heaters. Downstairs also has the 2 bathrooms, both with walk in showers and modern vinyl floors. There is also a powder room under the stairs. The laundry has a s/steel bench and Asko washing machine and dryer with direct access to outside.
Upstairs hosts the living and meal areas which are separated by a glass stairwell. Massive sliding blackbutt doors create the thoroughfare between rooms. The kitchen has been designed for entertaining and has stone benchtops and s/steel appliances. Utensils are in abundance. A separate room has the fridge, food and preparation pantries plus loads of extra storage space. The dining area has a timber and leather table and chairs with its own stereo system.
The living area upstairs has a 42" plasma and dvd with a surround sound system, leather lounge and a cosy area in front of the fireplace with beanbags, perfect for reading, playing games or just chilling out. Both upstairs areas have their own balconies one with a large 8 seat setting and bbq. The other with a small table and chairs to enjoy the beautiful views back over Jan Juc.
The house has been built using reclaimed timbers. All the floors are a stunning polished jarrah, the windows are made from ironbark, even californian redwood has been remachined from barrels to create the ceiling lining. The exposed structural timbers used internally and externally are all blackbutt and the centerpiece stairwell is constructed from sydney blue gum. The complete exterior clad in timber strips has been left to fade to a silver grey and to entwine itself with the landscape.
Outside has a carport and landscaped gardens and there is an external hot and cold shower. Surfboard and wetsuit racks make for easy storage of your gear. The two external decks face different directions and enable you to soak up the sun or find a cool breeze whatever you prefer.

Things to do

The beachhouse is a perfect spot for a vacation whether it be long or short. You are situated on the "golden mile" of Victorian surfing starting at some of the best reef breaks around to the mecca of surfing that is Bells Beach. All these spots can be reached by either foot, bike or car. If shopping is your thing the Torquay surf shops are just a short drive or you can catch the bus or just walk. The golf course is a 5 minute walk as are the tennis courts, play areas and recreation reserves. The Jan Juc cliffs are renown for their magnificent formations and walking/riding tracks have been built right on the clifftops enabling spectacular views along the miles of trails. The beautiful Jan Juc beach is only minutes away and is fully patrolled during the summer months. For the fishermen there is good fishing straight off the beaches or at Spring Creek. The shops are 100 metres away and have great eating at either Swells cafe, Bird Rock Bar or the pub. Takeaway is available from the fish and chip shop and there is a chemist and a milk bar, pretty much everything that you need. If you wish, Torquay is only 5 minutes away and has a large shopping centre and an abundance of eateries.

Great Ocean Road and Bellarine Peninsula

Jan juc is central to take great day trips either in an east or west direction. West takes you along the Great Ocean Road, one of the most spectacular drives in the world. You will pass through picturesque beach towns such as Anglesea and Lorne and through the smaller ones such as Wye River and Aireys Inlet. A 2 hour drive will bring you out at Apollo Bay the start of the wonderous Otway Ranges with its rugged coastline and a further hour or so and you can reach the Twelve Apostles. Along the way eateries. wineries and many other attractions, such as the Otway Fly, will ensure your day out is a memorable one.
East takes you along the Bellarine Peninsula through Barwon Heads, Ocean Grove and onto Pt Lonsdale and Queenscliff. From Queenscliff you can catch the ferry to Sorrento or enjoy wandering amongst the ornate buildings of a bygone era. Pt Londsdale has great diving, and Barwon Heads and Ocean Grove are filled with small cafes and boutique shopping.

  • "This is the perfect place for a group of friends to kick back and enjoy the beach-side lifestyle. The upstairs has a fantastic layout, with heaps of room on the balconies and in the dining and lounge areas inside."

  • "We loved our stay at this house. It is a lovely modern comfortable house, and is so well equipped with everything you need (and more) It had a lovely feel with big bean bags for the kids, comfy couches, and big flat screen tv. Great local shops and cafes. The house was warm and inviting, we will definitely stay there again next time we are back in the area."
    Shelley, October 2011

  • "I needed a place to stay while working at the Rip Curl Pro and have friends over at the same time. The house was perfect. Big, clean, spacious and all the facilities you could imagine and then some. Everything is explained, easy to use, close to everything including waves and in a quiet part of Jan Juc so if you really need to wind down you can. Had fun, would never think of staying anywhere else in Juc ever again, and I used to live in the area!! "
