Description

Feedback from our guests indicates that Silverbirch Cottage is perfect for families and large groups (of up to 8 people). No other holiday home in Deloraine can cater for such a large number of guests under the one roof.

The cottage is located within an easy walk of the river and town centre. Silverbirch provides a cosy and tastefully decorated home base for exploring the local attractions as well as the top half of Tasmania, including the caves at Mole Creek, boating and fishing on the Huntsman Lake (the new Meander Dam), bushwalking at Liffey Falls and visiting other attractions closer to town such as the Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm and Ashgrove Cheese factory.

The Rose Bedroom has a queen bed and a large bay window with handcrafted wooden feature. It can be seen in the photo on the title page. The Lavender Bedroom has a queen plus single with a skylight which floods the room with natural light. The Fern Bedroom (at the rear of the property) has its own ensuite and has views of Quamby Bluff.

The cottage comes equipped with a full size fold out bed which can be set up anywhere in the cottage. We also have a baby cot and high chair - just let us know if you\'ll be needing them.

There are two bathrooms, one of which has a claw foot bath and separate shower. The laundry includes a drying cupboard, front loading washing machine, clothes dryer, laundry sink and comes with a fixed supply of washing powder.

The cottage has two showers, two toilets and a bath so guests have plenty of amenity and space.

We accept credit card payments as well as direct deposit via any branch of the Commonwealth Bank or internet transfer.

The cottage also features two separate living areas including comfy leather lounges, a large LCD television with digital free-to-air reception and a DVD library catering for all ages and tastes. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, microwave, large fridge, gas cooktop and electric oven built right into the fireplace. Enjoy alfresco dining in the courtyard off the main living area on our outdoor setting, complete with market umbrella and 4 burner gas barbeque.

The cottage has reverse cycle air conditioning in the main living area and three fixed wall heaters located throughout the property to keep guests warm during the evenings and chilly winter months.

Adding to the charm and unique character of the cottage are its distictive recyled timber trim on the front verandah and in the bay window, a swirling handcrafted timber feature draws the eye in the Rose room. The gas cooktop is built into a recycled timber bench in the middle of the kitchen which combines practicality and the beauty of Tasmanian timbers, which also feature as splashbacks in the kitchen and laundry.

The gardens were professionally designed and planted some years ago and provide a leafy oasis offering privacy and seclusion to guests. The yard is fully fenced and child friendly, there is even a small tree house for discovery. The cottage offers off street parking and a double garage is available for guests\' cars.

Outdoors, the cottage features ornate recycled timber features which adds to the sense of yesteryear and a strong connection with the past. The building has been lovingly maintained by its various owners over the years and its many unique features reflect the individual contributions and character of each owner.

The yards are dotted with silver birches which provide dappled shade in summer and stunning silhouettes during the cooler months and at dusk. Their presence provided the inspiration for the name of the cottage and creates an air of privacy and secluion.

  • "Silvervirch Cottage is just beautiful situated in a quiet side street with only a 5 min walk to the main street, cafes and large supermarket. The spacious cottage is very nicely decorated with everything you may need (and I mean everything), complete with DVDs, games, a full kitchen and a huge dining table to seat 8 people with great views of the surrounding mountain range. We highly recommend Silverbirch Cottage for families."

  • "We really loved staying at the Silver Birch. It is just perfect for a family. We loved the homey atmosphere, and space, compared to a motel room. If we had known how good it was we would have stayed there longer and used it as our base for covering northern Tassie. Making the payments was a challenge with no eftpos facility, so I would like to see that set up for the future. We hope to stay there agin in the future. Cheers, Mark"
