  • "John & Margarets, owner-built Cubby House presents very well overall with a number of pros and cons, as do most farm stay cabins. The pros are; a nice distance valley view from the veranda, spacious internals, an abundance of firewood, Johns subtle sense of humour & his willingness to have a bit of a yarn in between his continuous daily chores. Hes certainly got local knowledge, given that hes lived in the area all his life. And then theres their 11 year old son, Daniel. What a charmingly articulate, knowledgeable and polite young man. A thoroughly likeable young gentleman who adds real value to ones stay. The cons are; limited bathroom/toilet necessities, faulty BBQ (read almost dangerous which John has promised to fix) very noisy dogs and fowls/roosters that go off through the night next to your bedroom window and, almost constant wind, being on the edge of a large canyon. Finally and quite disappointingly, this 1000 acre elevated property is mostly overgrown with Bracken Fern & other noxious weeds, somewhat limiting for successful stock feeding. "

  • "Clean and comfortable, well-equipped, and one of the best views anywhere. Enjoyed the friendly and helpful attitudes of our host and hostess. A great deal to do and see both on the farm and nearby."

  • "We loved "The Cubby House" We had a great time exploring the property and surrounds and our daughter had the most wonderful time with all the animals and living the farm life. Wonderful hosts make for a thoroughly enjoyable weekend. (And great home made Rasberry jam!)"

  • "What a great place to visit, the views over the Capertee Valley are breath taking. The "Cubbyhouse" is well served with accommodation, kitchen fit out and a fabulous wood burning fireplace. The owners, Margaret & David were also great, very welcoming and free to give their background and knowledge on the surrounding district. There are many bush walks on the property with astounding views and vista. Couldn't recommend this farm enough, my partner & I will definitely be back next yaer."

Also thanks to John and Margaret for their warm welcome to their farm. The place is enchanting with beautiful views ...and I recommend everyone to wake up early and to view the beautiful sunrise. highly recommended. "

  • "This was the second time we stayed at The Cubby House and it won't be our last! The Chadwicks are truly lovely country people who make you feel completely at home on their property. They have thought of everything at The Cubby House, it's a completely relaxing home away from home. Besides the country hospitality, the scenery is beyond belief! "

  • "Our stay at the Cubby House was fabulous. We were in awe of the view from the verandah at sunrise, the kids loved the animals and Margaret and John were so welcoming. The kids loved the truck ride and the beautiful gift that John gave the kids was very special. We had three families staying there and we were all very comfortable and enjoyed the stay very much. Would love to return and totally recommend it."
