Description

Ribbonwood cottages offer a unique experience. Not only do we provide great accommodation, our cottages are situated on a 100 acre working farm with cattle & horses, 1/2 km of Tumut River frontage, perfect for trout fishing, canoeing and boating [we have 2 boat ramps into the river].
The property also boasts its own 3 acre island which opens up another 1km of river frontage for fishing, platypus watching or just exploring the island & its amazing birdlife. This historic property was the site of one of the two original settlements of Tumut and was where the first bridge over the river was built. It is home to the largest English Elm in the Southern Hemisphere.
Six generations of local knowledge ensures your stay will be informed & welcoming. Your host Brett also has a life time of experience fishing the local rivers, creeks & dams & offers free fishing tuition to all guests.

Lavender Cottage
A spacious 2 bedroom cottage complete with a fully self-contained kitchen, bathroom/laundry, main bedroom with a queen bed and a double bed in the 2nd bedroom. The living area also has a sofa lounge.
The cottage supplies everything for your comfort: TV/DVD, sound system, heating/cooling, ceiling fans, electric blankets, doonas & blankets, private verandahs. The kids have a play area with swings, slippery dip & cubbyhouse.
Double under-cover parking is a feature unique to our accommodation.

Lavender is surrounded by a large established garden.
There is also a great under-cover BBQ area to cook your trout or relax with friends or family.
All linen & towels are included in the tariff.

The cottage is maintained to the highest standards & presented spotlessly clean.

The Tumut area has so much to offer, from the amazing natural beauty of the Tumut Valley to the Snowy Mountains Scheme, Koscuisko National Park , Yarrangobilly Caves, Selwyn Snow Fields, Tumut & the surrounding towns.
Actvities are plentiful; fishing, canoeing, kayaking, bushwalking, horse riding, mountian bike riding, snow skiing at Selwyn snow fields, water skiing at Blowering Dam, powered hang gliding over the Tumut Valley.This is just a sample of the activities available in the area. Being a local your host Brett has a rich family history in the Tumut Valley & is passionate about what this area has to offer & is only too happy to pass that knowledge & history onto his guests.
