Description

Wouldn't you like to..... Wake up with the sun streaming in and the birds singing. Quick swim in the lake or a brisk walk along the shore, before a leisurely brekky with the kookaburras. Then over to the sandbar for a swim and a surf at Cellito Beach. BBQ lunch with the brush turkeys for company. Relax awhile. As the breeze picks up, sail, wind surf or kite surf on the lake. Pre-dinner drinks and a stroll along the lake shore to enjoy the sunset. Evening dinner (with the possums and bandicoots) before falling into bed..... only to... Wake up with the sun streaming in...

From our Guest Book..

"Another wonderful holiday here - weather superb & lake at its best. Swam every day & lots of R & R. Thanks for being so helpful with our Internet problem. It's wonderful to have a holiday in a home NOT just a house!" Pendlebury Family, March 08

"Smiths Lake is a wonderful place - unspoilt bushland & very peaceful & safe clean water. A comfortable, well-appointed house with a beautiful view - perfect for our stay over Easter. We had a relaxing break, were blessed with great swimming and lots of sunshine. Wow!" Goodwin Family, March 2008

Make Our Retreat Yours

Angophora Grove is our escape from the hustle and bustle of Sydney. We would like you to make it your retreat, as well. The house is only metres from the lake, nestled among the beautiful Angophoras (the Apple Gums after which our property is named).

The house sleeps 6-10 in 3 bedrooms (2 double beds and 2 single beds) with 2 double sofa beds in the lounge room. There are two 2 Bathrooms. The layout of the house (See Plan) makes it great for 2 families of friends to share.

There is a CD player or you can connect your laptop computer or i-Pod to the stereo system. There is also Wi-Fi Internet access. If you need it, we have a TV (incl digital channels) and a DVD player.

The slow combustion log fireplace makes the house snug in winter.

When we visit we like cooking so the well-equipped, modern kitchen (condiments and spices supplied) and outdoor BBQ area allow meal preparation to be part of your holiday experience. But if cooking's not your idea of fun, you can order take-away or eat at a local restaurant.

The separate garage contains a table-tennis table and is a great play area on rainy days. The garage also has extra bunk beds (very basic accommodation only) if you have a tribe of teenagers from whom you'd like to escape!

There is always ample parking in the street.

Do nothing or do everything...

With Angophora Grove as your base
You can choose to relax.... with a glass of wine and a good book with nothing more to disturb your day than bird song, the breeze rustling through the trees or the distant rumble of the surf rolling in on the ocean beach.
Or
You can choose to be energetic... and swim, surf, sail, paddle, water ski, windsurf or kite surf, putter round the lake in a tinny, go fishing in the lake or from the ocean beaches, play golf, walk or jog along the beach, explore the rock pools, do some snorkelling, stroll around the lake shore, visit the Frothy Coffee Boatshed and Cafe, check out the local market, pull on your walking boots and explore the coastal wilderness and rainforests of the National Parks and State Forests of the Great Lakes district, head off to the movies, eat out at a local restaurant and much more.

Guest Reviews

  • "Our family visited Angophora Grove expecting a wonderful week of relaxation and fun time together. We were certainly not disappointed by our stay. The lake at our back door, the grandchildren spent many hours playing in the water and building sand castles, while the adults relaxed. We found the house well equipted and close to many wonderful spots to explore and fill our days."
    Narrelle, November 2009

  • "What a lovely location for the family looking to have access to both the lake and ocean. Everything you could want is there. The house is large and spacious with a wonderfully large kitchen bench for all those holiday feasts. The view across the lake to the ocean from the back deck is so wonderful that you wish you never had to leave to go home. A perfect location for those wanting easy access to the lake from the back door with all of your windsurfing gear or kayak. "

  • "We had the opportunity to share a long weekend away with special friends: 9 of us in total. The house provided us with all the conveniences and amenities that one needs for a relaxing and comfortable holiday. A private and relatively secluded location despite the almost suburban setting! Wonderful tree-studded streets to meander along: a short walk to the Lake's edge. All we need now is the time to have another visit! "
    Louise, August 2008

  • "Everyone had a great time. Enough room for whole family of teenagers. From feeding the friendly possums to walking along the lake, fishing or sailing a catamaran from the boatshed, everyone had a good time. Nighttime table tennis challenges or scrabble after dinner. Whole family relaxed for a week - excellent "
    Win, August 2008

  • "Our stay at Angophora was short but very relaxing. The house is in a perfect location with loads to do. It was lovely and cozy in the evening with the fire lit."
    Jane, August 2008

  • "Perfect summer weather by the lake. Boat pulled up on the sand in front of the house. Fishing, swimming sailing... We had a great time wandering along the lake's edge to Frothy Coffee Cafe. The house is equipped with everything you might need and has a well-stocked pantry. It was a quiet and tranquil escape. "
