Sirens Bed & Breakfast

Description

Sirens is a spacious timber house built in 1900 for an early resident of Katoomba. Stepping inside is to enter a time that has now long gone. High ceilings and wide timber floorboards reflect that time. Furniture and artefacts,soft furnishings and beds all add to the ambience of long ago.
From the street at the front Sirens looks a fairly modest sized house. The wide verandah is reached by a flight of steps. One enters through a door to the left that opens into a foyer where no doubt people shed their wet coats and boots before passing through the antique leadlight front door into the house proper. A passagewayleads into the house past the library and a bedroom. A flight of stairs can be seen leading upwards on the right while the passage turns sharply to the left.On turning the corner one can see that the house is indeed much larger than it first appeared.

Bedrooms

There are four bedrooms. Two of these have a double brass bed with lovely canopies and a romantic atmosphere. They each have an ensuite bathroom,TV and ironing facilities. There is a selection of books and magazines.
The Queen suite is larger and has a canopied queen bed and a single. It has an ensuite and a sunroom which opens onto the front verandah. The silvery pink furnishings give it a soft elegant atmosphere.
The spa suite is the fourth room. It has a separate spa room, a bathroom and the bedroom itself. It has a more dramatic feel with the dark green of the canopy and bedspread,

Common Areas

The library is the first common area you reach and is a delightful room with dark wood shelving, old French escritoire and some wonderful books. There is a deep comfy sofa where you can curl up to read with the gramophone playing if you wish.
Upstairs there is a light spacious area where you can have a game of pool, listen to music, watch TV or just relax.
The lounge is a lovely big room with comfortable soa and easy chairs, a beautiful old fireplace where there is a fire on really cold nights. There is a piano and a chess set ready to play. Through the lounge is the breakfast room,a light and sunny place to eat at the huge table. This opens out to the garden and the fountain, a delightful place to walk or sit in the sun.
