You will never want to leave....................
Voted as one of the top 4 places to stay in the Blue Mountains by Australian Country Style.
We welcome you for a romantic getaway a family stay or just because you want to be in the Blue Mountains in Style.
Behind the high rendered brick wall of this charming home is a world of warmth, intimacy and romance. Most unexpected in this quiet little lane way, so close to Katoomba town centre.
Teddys (named after the owners much loved border collie) is a home of character with such unique charm and style rarely found on the holiday quest.
The owners have renovated and refurbished Teddys over the past 10 years and in 2004 it featured in the February issue of Australian Country Style.
Recently opened in September 2007 as a holiday home, we invite you to explore Teddys, all its nooks and exotic surprises and hope you will feel as comfortable as you do in your own home when you stay here.
The dining area opens through to the lounge room which features beautiful pressed metal ceilings and oversized cedar windows. There is a slow combustion - open fire which will create the perfect atmosphere. Relax into the plush chocolate velvet 3 seater lounge or one of the cosy armchairs and watch a DVD or just listen to music. Two rustic ottomans upholstered in hand woven Kilim rugs add to the comfort and double up as foot stools for true relaxation.
Majestic French barn doors lead you into Teddys open plan kitchen. A recycled pine dining table and antique bent-wood chairs seat 6-8 people. You will find classic white dinnerware and fine glassware to complement your dining experience. There is a ceramic stove top set in the melaluca bench top and a full size fridge freezer.
We know it will be the most comforting sleep youve ever had with our double pillow top mattress and pure wool and organic cotton underlay. The Red Room has that extra romantic feel with its slow combustion fire, so fall asleep in the crisp white bed linen to the sound of the fire crackling. Antique Wedding Kimonos collected during extended living periods in Japan also add a touch of exotic luxury to the bedding.
Visitors to Teddys will find plenty of bedtime reading located on the hand crafted library shelves either side of the fire place. Be warned, you could get lost in the Red Room all day if youre not careful!
Bedroom 2 is situated at the far end of Teddys. Set up high, it is surrounded on 3 walls by stylish plantation shutters and on a clear morning in winter you see glimpses of the cliff faces at the nearby escarpment. This room feels so healing and light filled and the touches of raw Belgian linen bedding add to the ambience. You might find choosing a room a little challenging as both rooms have a unique charm of their own. A luxurious black ebonised writing desk awaits you under the northern window....so dont forget your sketch pad, that unfinished novel or your lap top. The bed is once again a double pillow top mattress with the added comfort of the pure wool and organic cotton reversible underlay.
The bathroom at Teddys has a very English feel to it with a deep claw foot bath tub and oiled baltic wood floors.
Plenty of white fluffy bath towels adorn the shelf along with Crabtree & Evelyn amenities.
There is an oversized shower tiled with spectacular musical cherub features and a raw travertine marble floor. The shower head itself has been installed with luxury in mind; the generous size will ensure your shower is the best you will ever have.
Teddys compact courtyard garden has been cleverly designed to make you feel enveloped by greenery. The sweeping brick stairs lead you down to Teddys entry door past the rare and exotic maple horozontalis which turns a brilliant yellow in the autumn months. The courtyard garden also features hedges of camelia and cypress. The focal point in the spring months are the three tall grafted crabapple trees, showering the softest pink blossoms all around the garden beds. A beautiful bonsai maple forest is amongst the plantings and a magnificent yellow banksia rose curves in the shape of a natural arbour as soon as you open the garden entry door. This is truly a secret garden in every sense of the word.
There is a lovely outdoor furniture setting in the courtyard and a BBQ for all your casual dining requirements. The barn doors swing open on both sides to give you the feeling of bringing the outside in.
The courtyard also has provision for off street car parking and a remote roller door system for easy access.
