Description

Recently restored, this former 'fisherman's' cottage is situated in the most attractive, leafy corner of South Fremantle, opposite a small park.

An 1980s extension with high ceilings and bay window adds unique character to this very special 1890s worker's cottage. The back sitting/dining room opens onto a private 'mediterranean' courtyard garden which makes a lovely breakfast spot or barbeque area.

The Cottage is well equipped, beautifully furnished and best quality crisp white linen is provided. It is easy to care for, and would suit those either on holiday wanting a romantic getaway, or provide a comfortable retreat for those on business.

The deciduous trees allow plenty of shade in summer and light in winter. Although shaded and cool in summer, the cottage is very cosy in the cooler months and is heated by a gas pot belly in the back sitting/dining room and an open gas 'Victorian' fireplace in the front sitting room.

Prized location

Situated in a quiet location, opposite a small park - just accross the road from Fishing Boat Harbour, we are in a great spot. The park opens onto Marine Terrace and is 200 metres from the South Fremantle Sailing Club and the beginning of South Beach. In the opposite direction, we are only a short walk from Little Creatures and a selection of harbour restaurants. Notre Dame University, the hospital, Fremantle Markets, the Round House and the centre of Fremantle are just a short stroll from here.

South Fremantle's culinary hub is just at the end of our little street. A great selection of restaurants, cafes and specialty shops add to the character of this sought after area. These include a German gourmet bakery, a small Italian supermarket, a beauty studio, yoga centre, art galleries, an antique shop, the Fremantle Chocolate Factory, several gift shops, and more.

Enjoy the beach and a range of water sports, take the ferry to Rottnest Island, sail up the Swan River - explore Fremantle's historic sites, the new Maritime Museum and the many contemporary art galleries.

Catch the free Orange Cat (bus) from the end of the street to Fremantle Arts Centre, have lunch on the lawns, see an exhibition and listen to court yard music. Vsit other heritage sites - Fremantle Prison and the famous Fremantle Markets. The main line station is a short walk away(for those wishing to travel to Perth).....

...or, simply stay at 'home', enjoy the space, and listen to music, watch a DVD, or find an interesting read from our wide selection of books - and relax.

  • "We adored staying at the Studio. Our short visit left a huge impression owing to the depth of character of the residence, and the hospitality of its hosts. This place has so much charm and eccentricity (and a wonderful collection of books and art to absorb)but with ample amounts of luxury, comfort and style that make it the perfect getaway at any time of year. Highly recommended!"

  • "Judy & Hugh were delightful hosts during our recent stay in Freemantle. They kindly showed us around the cottage, provided tourist information and brochures and said hello if we saw them outside. A basket of goodies including locally made chocolates, fresh bread and fruit was left for us, which was a lovely welcome after flying into Perth. It's the little touches such as these that made our stay 'homey' and comfortable. I thoroughly recommend the accommodation! "

  • "Highly recommended. Very comfortable and located within easy walking distance of conveniences, and pleasant stroll to Fremantle proper. Delightfully furnished and with a lovely back courtyard perfect for alfresco dining. I'll definitely stay here every time I return to Fremantle."
