Description

Recently restored, this \'fisherman\'s\' cottage is situated in one of the most attractive, leafy corners of South Fremantle and is opposite a small park, which opens onto Marine Terrace.

An 1980s extension with high ceilings and bay window adds unique character to this very special 1890s worker\'s cottage. The back sitting/dining room opens onto a private courtyard garden which makes a lovely breakfast spot or barbeque area. The deciduous trees allow shade in summer and plenty of light in winter.

The cottage is very well equipped, beautifully furnished, easy to care for, and would suit those either on holiday or on business. An extra single bed and /or cot can be requested.
Although shaded in summer, the cottage is very cosy in the cooler months and is heated by a gas pot belly in the back sitting/dining room and an open gas \'Victorian\' fireplace in the front sitting room. This room has a desk with phone and broad-band internet connection.

Prized location

Situated in a quiet location, opposite a small park which is just accross the road from Fishing Boat Harbour, we are in a great spot. Only 200 metres from Fremantle Sailing Club, the cottage is a short stroll from South Beach, and /or Notre Dame University, the hospital, Fremantle Markets, the Round House, and the centre of Fremantle.

South Fremantle\'s culinary hub is just at the end of the road. A great selection of restaurants, cafes and specialty shops add to the character of this sought after area. These include a German gourmet bakery, a small Italian supermarket, the Fremantle Chocolate Factory, several gift shops, art galleries, an antique shop and more.

Enjoy the beach and usual water sports, take a ferry to Rottnest Island, or sail up the Swan River - explore Fremantle\'s historic sites, the new Maritime Museum and the many contemporary art galleries.

From Coral Cottage you can follow up on a vast range of holiday pursuits, or simply stay at \'home\' and listen to music, watch a DVD, or find an interesting read from our wide selection of \'good\' books - and relax.

Walk across the park to Marine Parade and you can catch the free Orange Cat (bus) to Fremantle Arts Centre, other heritage sites plus the main line station (for those wishing to travel to Perth).

Guest Reviews

  • "Judy & Hugh were delightful hosts during our recent stay in Freemantle. They kindly showed us around the cottage, provided tourist information and brochures and said hello if we saw them outside. A basket of goodies including locally made chocolates, fresh bread and fruit was left for us, which was a lovely welcome after flying into Perth. It's the little touches such as these that made our stay 'homey' and comfortable. I thoroughly recommend the accommodation! "

  • "Highly recommended. Very comfortable and located within easy walking distance of conveniences, and pleasant stroll to Fremantle proper. Delightfully furnished and with a lovely back courtyard perfect for alfresco dining. I'll definitely stay here every time I return to Fremantle."
