Description

Cockatoo House sits a short stroll through Queens Park into the main street of the rural like township of Healesville. On a hot day you might stop and grab an ice cream to keep you cool while you take a wander up the main street to find shops of many varieties in which to loose yourself. On a cold day stop for a hot chocolate or steaming coffee at one of the many cafés or perhaps you might find a hot toddy to warm the blood more to your taste. And that my friend is just the beginning. Experience the many varied activities. Wineries, beautiful parks, markets and farms are just some of the attractions of the area. In the colder months we are just a forty minute drive to Lake Mountain, which has 37 km of cross-country trails to suit all ability levels.

Whether staying one night or a week or two you will find our accommodation to be well worth the stay. Cockatoo house provides enough room to accommodate four to six guests, with two queen bedrooms and one twin single bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen, laundry, bathroom with separate toilet and linen and towels are also provided. The large kitchen gives the guest ample room to get together with family or friends and if you like cooking then take advantage of the well appointed kitchen, or not then simply relax and order in from one of the local restaurant’s, grab a local wine and watch a movie in comfort in the home theatre.

The house sits on an acre where in the gardens you may be lucky enough to meet one or two of the inhabitants, Galloper the miniature horse, who sometimes gets mistaken for a My Little Pony, or the abundance of birds passing through, magpies, parrots, cockatoos and many more. You will find Cockatoo House a very friendly relaxed place to be with a country aspect and artistic inspiration, suitably placed to easily access the variety of local activities in the area. Healesville Sanctuary is a four km drive, Tarrawarra Art Museum is a ten minute drive, visit the national parks or visit some of the many Yarra Valley wineries as well as many other attractions.

Guest Reviews

  • "We had a lovely experience at Cockatoo House which which we found warm and welcoming and well equipped. Our daughters thoroughly enjoyed the on-site pony, 'Galloper' - worth the trip itself! "
