Forest Glen comprises 65 hectares (160 acres), about a third of which is natural, native bushland, another third being wide open spaces, and the final third being an organic tea tree plantation.
The homestead and Farm Stay are surrounded by well kept lawns and gardens, inviting birds and wildlife to share the space. Waking up to the grazing 'roos and ducks outside the door is a daily event.
Our mission is to provide an ecologically friendly environment in which you can come and look, learn, dine and relax in one place.
Forest Glen is civilisation...
The Farmstay accommodation comprises a five bedroom original cottage. This can be occupied by as few people as a just couple or as many as ten people. It comes complete with fully self-contained kitchen, dining/lounge room, bathroom, TV and a wood combustion stove for winter heating.
A bunk room accommodates another six in true, basic style.
A games room with pool table, table tennis and table games complete the picture.
For larger numbers, additional multiple, segregated bathroom/toilet amenities are just a few steps away. These facilities include wheelchair access showers and toilets for disabled folk who are able to bear weight. Imagine bringing your aged parents for a couple of days to the country, knowing they will be cared for as well as they are at home.
Forest Glen also boasts a 60-seat reception centre that is designed to cater for day tour groups (morning teas, lunches, etc.), parties, weddings, seminars and small conferences. Amanda's many years of catering experience, including seven years on the road feeding film crews and stars alike, are put to good use, and meal packages are available by arrangement. The Farm Stay provides an option for staying on site after the function.
Forest Glen is an A1 certified organic tea tree plantation, where we grow the trees and process the oil on site. We are also growing fruit and vegetables organically. If you would like to know more about organic mechanics, it's all here for the learning.
Forest Glen is nature...
Forest Glen is a haven for birds and other wildlife, with over 100 varieties of birds recorded on the property over time, and with numerous kangaroos, wallabies, free-roaming horses and other wildlife resident on the property. It is not unusual to spot an echidna, a goanna, or a python. Just for the looking.
Forest Glen has wide open spaces for camping, romping, playing, strolling, jogging, cycling and so on. We adjoin Bungawalbyn Creek, where kayaking and fishing can be enjoyed. Get the exercise you need, or just relax over a drink.
At night time, the only lights you see are generated on site or in the sky above. On cloudless and moonless nights, it is just as likely that the homestead lights will go out and the telescope will emerge. At these times, weather and season permitting, it is also likely that we will offer our hugely popular campfire under the stars.
