You will be surprised by how much space you have to become comfortable in. Two French doors open onto a private balcony overlooking a treelined street should you want to stay at home and find out just what is happening in Fremantle.
Have a quick nap on the delux supersize leather sofa with the option of peace and quiet , stereo system or wide screen plasma.

Wireless internet connection is available at no extra cost.

Upstairs awaits a bed fit for king (and queen ) fitted with crisp white cotton linen and stacks of pillows for a great night's sleep.

If the sea breeze hasn't cooled you down airconditioning should do the trick. It is of course able to warm you up in winter as well.

There is always a supply of teas, ground coffee, spreads and chocolate and an ale or two with nibblies if you need them.

Your car has its own accommodation in a locked courtyard.

NOTE Access to the apartment is via a spiral staircase. This might be difficult if you have bad knees.

Places to go/things to do

All of the places we have mentioned are within a comfortable walking distance from Olympia. You can leave the car.

Maritime Museum on the wharf overlooking the harbour entrance. just take a walk around the boardwalk - you will find a submarine hidden around there. Australia's maritime history is on show in the museum. While you are there you can stroll to the 'C' shed markets and the main harbour of Fremantle. It is a hive of shipping and boating activity. Rottnest ferry departs near the 'C' shed and Rottnest Island is a mere 30 minutes away.
The State's oldest building, the Round House was used in the early colony as a jail and delightful Smith's beach which is an ideal location to take a quick dip in the Indian Ocean are close by.
Fremantle Prison has an amazing history. Built by convicts using local limestone the prison closed in 1985. Regular tours are held 7 days a week. Worth visiting.Quite spooky at night.
Fremantle Markets are open from Friday to Sunday. An eclectic mix of entertainment, arts and crafts, gifts and food. Shanghai food markets are buzzy and good value.

The Fremantle Arts centre is a stunning old building that has various displays and exhibitions and designers works
Also has live entertainment in the courtyard weekends during summer. Check with the visitor centre to see what's on.

Market Street and High Street are fast becoming known for upmarket designer labels. Speciality food and cafes abound in this precinct.

Some other suggestions that we can recommend are
Luna on Essex - a groovy intimate little boutique cinema complex which has a range of festival type movies.
Just behind it on Collie Street is Whisper Wine Bar - it is quiet and intimate and delightfully French. You can have a coffee or a very good glass of wine with a wonderful range of light but tasty food. A movie and a drink afterwards is a very reasonably priced night out.

I have heard the Attic is also really worth trying- small bar/cafe in Bannister St.
Also try the beach bar at Bathers Beach - recently set up for the World sailing champs ,loved by all and staying on a bit longer.

Little Creatures on Marine Parade is a large drinking eating venue built around beer brewing tanks. It is impressive - busier and noisier but the place to be on Thursday to Sunday evenings. The Loft just next door is quieter and shmoozier. All have outdoor heaters and rugs-so nice.

For art lovers there is great Aboriginal art at Artitja in Market St.

Hush is just the best coffee and hot chocolate you have ever tasted. It is also Market St. One of our all time favourites which we always go to after finishing servicing our apartment for the next guests!

Villa Roma in High St down towards the Round House - good for quick and very cheerful Italian cuisine. Really friendly entertaining service from the gentlemen who run it. Magnifico!!!

Sala Thai in Essex St.

The Maya Indian Food the best for miles

Kakulas Sister Grocery Store - corner Market and Leake - go there if you are in any way a foodie.

The Newport and Sail and Anchor pubs are renovated and pleasant. Great courtyards/outdoor areas. The Left Bank in East Fremantle is the perfect distance for a walk or run along the river.Head towards the city following Canning Highway and once past the harbour go towards the river and you can;t miss it. Sensational on a warm still night watching the sun set.

If you like jewellery and or pearls it is definitely worth just having a look in Kailis Australian Pearls in Collie St near the Esplanade. It is an amazing display of precious WA pearls and it is quite possible to buy a piece that is affordable which you will treasure forever. Please go there. (I have no vested interest!)

New Edition Bookshop is open till 10pm every night. High St.
Beautiful bookshop

South Terrace in South Fremantle is well worth venturing down to. There are so many places to try Ruocco's pizza,Aubergines Cafe , Vespa cafe.

Try renting a scooter and doing a bit of cruising around the coast and river.

Or just jump on a train and head to Cottesloe or Subiaco or the city and explore.

Go to the Visitors centre in Kings Square for information on everything Fremantle.

Woolies has a new supermarket in Queen Victoria St or there is Coles which is in the Woolstores in Cantonment St. There is a bottle shop attached.
