Description

This idyllic lake-side spot weaves a special magic over guests.
Wake up to the call of a whip bird and take an early morning paddle over the silver water to the black swan's nest, or sit on the deck and watch pelicans glide by. Head off to the beach to catch the best of the morning's surf or walk along the sweeping bay and stop at a coffee shop on your way back.
Here you will find the best of both worlds: from the buzz of Avoca Beach with its cafes, restaurants and shops to the serene tranquility of the lake.

The house itself is newly renovated and decorated in stunning tropical style with polished floorboards, a day bed and luxurious piles of brightly coloured cushions. An extensive living area (air conditioned) opens up onto a huge deck overlooking the garden and lake. Indoor and outdoor dining can accommodate up to 10 and 12 people respectively.
The modern kitchen is fully equipped with everything from a coffee plunger and 4 slice toaster to a stick blender. Microwave and dishwasher complete the picture and the recent addition of a second fridge (downstairs) has been welcomed by our guests. For outdoor cooking there is a state-of-the-art barbecue with hood and separate side burner.

There are 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms:
Main bedroom on the ground floor with twin singles or king-sized double and ensuite bathroom (shower only)
Bedroom 2 on the top floor with twin singles or king-sized double; air conditioned
Bedroom 3 on the top floor with a queen bed; air conditioned
A bathroom on the top floor serves these 2 bedrooms and has a bath with shower overhead.
Bedroom 4 on the ground floor doubles up as a TV room and has 2 built-in beds with the possibility of a trundle as well. A bathroom on the ground floor serves this bedroom.
Our 5th bedroom on the lower deck houses a bunk bed, 2 singles and a trundle bed. It adjoins the bathroom/laundry on this level (shower only).

While the house has a lot of accommodation, it is NOT A PARTY HOUSE, and would ideally suit 2 or 3 families.

Parking comprises a double carport and further off-street parking for a 3rd car.

Nature lovers will be captivated by the rich and varied bird life that inhabits the lake. Pelicans parade up and down in front of the house. Ducks, coots, swamphens and spoonbills are a common sight around our jetty and the majestic black swans put in the occasional appearance.

Two kayaks (a 2-seater and a single) are provided for your enjoyment. Explore the lake at sunset for the best birdlife viewing or paddle to the beach and try your luck in the waves. (For adults only and choose a calm day)

The garden is fully fenced and makes a safe playing area for children.

The lower deck is devoted to entertainment with a dart board and ping-pong table plus a comfortable seating area for the spectators. The less active may choose to view the goings-on while luxuriating in the spa.

A TV and DVD player (which can also play CDs) have been installed in both the living area and the TV room, allowing children to watch their own programmes in peace! We also supply a plethora of games, cards and books in case of rainy weather.

A log burning fire (slow combustion stove) keeps the place toasty in winter and an air conditioning unit ensures comfort in extreme heat.

Avoca has many attractions. It is one of the best surfing beaches on the Central Coast and has a safe enclosed rock pool for younger children . A host of fabulous restaurants and cafes, a quaint cinema which shows the lates movies, tennis courts, surfing lessons, paddle boats and plenty more. All this within easy reach PLUS the soothing serenity of a peaceful lake-side setting. You've gotta love it. We do!

Guest Reviews

  • "This is a great house for an extended family getaway. My brothers and sisters and our families had a weekend away to celebrate our Dad's 60th birthday! The deck and outdoor eating/living area was fantastic. We enjoyed the house, the yard, the lake and of course nearby Avoca Beach. The kids loved taking the kayaks out on the lake and playing table tennis on the lower deck and the adults enjoyed relaxing in the hammock, the daybed and of course, in the spa. We had a fabulous time in a truly beautiful location. I would highly recommend this house for a weekend, or even longer getaway!"

  • "Myself and 6 friends stayed at the Lakehouse for an idyllic weekend. We found it a great place to stay in a good location close to the beach. The spa and ping pong table were welcome additions and the kayaks a nice touch. It has a beautiful outlook over the lagoon and a great deck for entertaining. Overall, highly recommended."

  • "Thank you for a great few days. The wonderfully large, colourful, well equipped house with lake access was perfect for a mums and kids getaway. The spa, kayaks, hammock and ping pong were used by all and loved!"

  • "An absolutely wonderful house. In fact, most of us wanted to stay in the house rather than do anything else in Avoca, even with the beach so conveniently close by. Wonderful facilities to keep the kids and adults occupied, table tennis during the day and Pictionary, poker and DVDs at night. The living area was very communal and open plan and the views over the lake were fantastic; the hammock on the deck was rarely unoccupied. The beautiful wood floors and the decor also created an overwhelming feeling of tranquility. The only downside was that the driveway was very steep."

  • "A great house for families sharing, but really only if you have older kids who would be happy to use downstairs area and who don't need adults for feeding/toileting during the night. Fantastic location and view, and great having kayaks right there to use. Perhaps a little overpriced for quality of fittings outside the main living area."

  • "I had celebrated my birthday with my closest friends in this stunning house which has satisfied all my expectations. It is in a great location and the spa and table tennis are such a great assets to it. Also dealing with the owners was very easy. I would definitely recommend it to anyone and will return soon. Thanks a lot! "

  • "Beautiful, well presented house. Lots of room. Upstairs bedrooms would benefit from air conditioning on those really hot summer days. We all enjoyed our stay."
