This lavishly appointed and meticulously restored Edwardian residence is set on 1800 square metres of surrounding grounds and gardens. Purposely built in the Federation Queen Anne style circa 1906, Varenna was originally the home of Miss Matilda Cowper, the grand-daughter of Anglican Arch-Deacon William Cowper, who came from England to the colony in 1809 at the request of Reverend Samuel Marsden, and later became the first arch-deacon of the Cumberland parish. Her father was the Very Reverend William Macquarie Cowper (Dean of Sydney) and her uncle, Sir Charles Cowper, was five times Premier of New South Wales.
Varenna consists of three stunning bedrooms, all with their own theme and uniqueness - a character within themselves. The rooms are made up of two queen-sized four poster beds and a queen-sized brass bed, soft lighting, plush electric blankets, crisp linen, fluffy duvets and windows draped in stunning curtains. Two bathrooms are available, the first bearing the original antique claw-foot bath tub and the second has the modern luxury of a double spa bath, both with sub-floor heating.
The entire house is centrally heated throughout. Three areas of dining are available - breakfast, formal dining or alfresco with BBQ. Kitchen consists of microwave, refrigerator with ice-maker, diswasher, stove with cooktop and all the relevant glassware, cookware, crockery & cutlery, plus a laundry with dryer/washing machine, iron/ironing board and laundry powder.
