Paradise Mudgee offers a generously equipped, fully self-contained house with two queen bedrooms, one bathroom, separate toilet and a laundry. The house is ideally suited to two couples but a double sofa bed in the study allows up to 6 people to stay. It is set in an intimate valley located 15 minutes on the Sydney side of Mudgee NSW (3.5 hours from Sydney).

The house is cheerful, clean and comfortable with a fully equipped kitchen overlooking the valley. The lounge dining room has an open log fire for those cosy winter nights and leads out to a courtyard with large outdoor setting and gas barbeque.

A resident mob of more than 40 Eastern Grey Kangaroos and over 65 bird species will provide hours of entertainment. Wander down to the sensational private swimming hole with grassy “beach” located just 150 metres from the house and you are likely to encounter platypus, echidnas, wombats and wallabies which are regularly seen along the river.

Just 2km away are Logan Wines and Prince Hill Wines, two of Mudgee's most spectacular cellar doors which offer great coffee, cakes and cheese/tasting platters (not to mention fabulous wines)! Another 5 of Mudgee's finest wineries are located within 15 minutes drive on the way into the wonderful township of Mudgee.

We have board games and plenty of books, pay-TV, video/DVD player and a selection of videos and CDs to keep you amused. Take the folding chairs and a picnic down to the river or walk through the trees to the top of the hill to admire the views. Alternatively just relax on the veranda with a bottle of Mudgee’s finest and let the wildlife amuse you.

The two queen bedrooms are spacious and inviting and have wonderful beds. The separate study/studio allows for privacy to read from the large selection of books and magazines, the opportunity to try out your artistic abilities or have some quiet time alone. This room is also available as an additional bedroom with double sofa bed. All linen is provided including quality sheets, pillow cases, doonas, bath towels, face washers, bath mat, hand towel, tea towels and beach towels (for use by the river).

“Paradise was an opportunity to enjoy total peace and tranquillity in the most beautiful setting imaginable. We plan to return soon as this was the most relaxing week’s holiday. Many thanks for sharing Paradise with us. (Don and Scott – December 2007)

A PERFECT RETREAT FOR NATURE LOVERS, PHOTOGRAPHERS, ARTISTS, CATCHING UP WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY, THOSE WHO NEED HEALING AND REST, AND THOSE SEEKING PEACE AND PRIVACY.

PARADISE ALSO OFFERS A WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY FOR OVERSEAS VISITORS TO EXPERIENCE OUR UNIQUE AUSTRALIAN WILDLIFE IN A RELAXED NATURAL ENVIRONMENT.

What to do?

* Relax on the wonderful veranda watching the wildlife, reading a book, taking a nap, or sipping on some of Mudgee's finest wines while you solve the problems of the world.

* Take the deck chairs, a picnic, your swimmers and your binoculars and spend the day by the river (150 metres from the house)

* Cook up a barbeque under the she-oak in the back courtyard and catch up with your friends

* Take the folding chairs to the middle of the paddock, switch the speakers to outdoors and have yourself a "symphony under the stars" (a favourite of ours)

* Explore the bush up the hill behind the house and admire the view from the top

* In winter get the fire roaring, open a bottle of Mudgee red and play some of the many board games provided or have a go at "Pictionary Charades"

* Retreat to the study and write that book you've been meaning to start, catch up on letters to friends, or have a go at sketching. You can even plug your laptop into the local phone line and check your emails (but only if you have to!)

What is nearby?

* The stunning cellar door at Logan's Wines is only 2 kms up the road and offers great coffee and cheese platters with a fantastic view - not to mention the delicious wine available there!

* Drop into Prince Hill Wines a little further along and check out their spectacular cellar door too on your way into town. Coffee, cakes and tasting platters are also available here.

* The beautiful township of Mudgee is 15 minutes away and offers great boutique shopping, fine places to eat and wonderful architecture, history, galleries and friendly locals.

* The district has over 40 wineries and tours are available if you don't feel like driving yourself around.

* Gulgong is a remarkable town 20 minutes on the other side of Mudgee and is well worth a visit to the historic Pioneer Museum and the very contemporary Cudgegong Gallery – talk about contrasts!

* There are a number of nature reserves and national parks in the region which offer spectacular bushwalking and bird watching opportunities.

* If you plan to stay for a while you could take the opportunity to do a day trip to historical Hill End or Dubbo zoo (both under 2 hours from Mudgee)

* On your way back to Sydney you might like to stop at the town of Rylstone and explore the delightful township as well as visiting the wonderful nature reserve called Dunns Swamp on the edge of the famous Wollemi National Park where the Wollemi pine was discovered.

Guest Reviews
I feel very privileged to have been able to share in this wonderful piece of paradise in Mudgee.
Everything was perfect, from the cosy beds with beautiful crisp linen and toasty warm electric blankets, to the comfy lounge on the verandah which was perfect for the evening champagne purchased at the gorgeous Logans winery, and the added bonus of Austar for enjoying by the open fire.
Paradise is such a great location with so much privacy and beauty and wonderful wildlife to enjoy. We will definitely be back, perhaps to enjoy a summer dip in the beautiful
river.

My family of four (11 and 13 yr old girls)had a wonderful two nights at 'Paradise'.The girls loved the creek, going to check on the kangaroos and climbing trees. I loved the fact that we could not see another house or road, our own private retreat. We had lovely nights playing games and toasting marshmallows on the open fire.
I was a little nervous before arriving that the homestead may not have adequete heating ,but within minutes the home was as warm as toast. Mudgee central is only a short drive away and as the kitchen is so well equiped it was easy to do a full on three course meal with all the appropriate dishes etc.. We visted some local vineyards which was fun, the girls liked tasting the olivies and olive oils so we were all happy. We will be back again to "Paradise" but will stay a little longer next time.
