Description

Fabulous three bedroom, two bathroom rural retreat set on five acres in the Portland Town Common, with glorious views of the Great Dividing Range.

It is only a five minute drive to the quaint local shops featuring old advertising signs, and the gorgeous Art Deco Crystal Theatre and 1920's Art Deco olympic swimming pool. The property is also located within easy distance to the goat dairy, for fabulous cheese, and lake for fishing.

Featured in Blue Mountains Life magazine, the house was built using recycled materials such as old convict bricks, chunky bridge timbers, floorboards rescued from the old Bathurst hat factory, leadlight windows and doors.

There's an expansive open-plan living area with cathedral ceilings and ten bi-fold doors which open onto a large deck area.

The main bathroom features an enormous shower and there is a deep claw-foot bath in the ensuite. Full laundry and kitchen facilities are offered as well as a slow combustion wood heater and electric blankets, fluffy quilts and quality cotton sheets.

The property is home to our two alpacas, ducks and guinea fowl and your pets are welcome. We have a dam full of yabbies and the local creek is a five minute walk away.

The area boats many species of native birds and wildlife, as well as the Town Common ponies, who roam around by the creek.

Enjoy aromatherapy body work/facials/aromatic treatments by appointment.

There are easy day trips to Cowra, Orange, Mudgee, Hill End, Sofala, and scenic short drives to the stunning Capertee and Wolgan Valleys, Lithgow, Bathurst, Oberon and the Jenolan Caves.

Fresh flowers are available on request.

Guest Reviews

  • "What a lovely place to stay, so relaxing after a hard work at Mt Piper Power Station. Its really a mountain view escape not only for tradesmen but also for family. Anne (owner) was very helpful, she even find us alternative accommodation during our three long months of work at Power Station. We miss feeding all the animals around. Thanks a lot, United Group Ltd Electricians Ramon, Robert, Roberto, Rodel, Alvin & Roy"

  • "We had an absolute fantastic weekend at the Mountain View Escape with our friends. It was cold outside but we all nestled in infront of the fire. The kids loved exploring out in the yard and spent plenty of time just watching the alpaca's in the yard, despite the cold weather. The kitchen was well equiped and we were able to cook a great big feast for us all. Thank you! The small touches to the house and the serenity of it all made it a unforgettable break from the city."

  • "What a wonderful house, our family felt at home, the minute we walked through the door! Beautifully decorated, comfy beds, warm fire, all the comforts of home. We spent the week, relaxing, drinking coffee and wine on the balcony, what more could you ask for? The property is well set up for adults and children. Our host was a 'gem', thanks again for sharing your beautiful home with us, we will definately be back!"

  • "Anyone who is looking for a relaxing holiday then go no further than 'Annies Place'. Having spent some time visiting the Blue Mountains over the years, finally we found somewhere that accomodates all our needs. The property is spacious, combining both an older & modern feel - Perfect!! Great for children! We spent most of the time bush walking and soaking up the view on the verandah. We only booked 3 nights, however, extended for the week, we loved the place so much. Back in July!!!"

  • "The property is wonderful. We were made to feel very welcome and "at home". There are a number of extras such as nice soap, additional towels, eggs, good tea and coffee and other cooking ingredients that you would not purchase if staying only a few days. The property was excellent for children. The kids were entertained on the lovely veranda and there were toys and books. The main bedroom was extreamly comfortable but the second bedroom not great because the bed is not very comfortable. Overall, if you are happy to be away from the center of town, the property is fantastic value especially for 2 couples with kids."
