Activities in Berowra Waters
It\'s great fun to zip around in the runabout over the weekend exploring Calabash Bay and Berowra Creek. At low tide, many bays reveal secret beaches perfect for a romantic picnic or game of beach cricket. Or you can kayak up neighbouring creeks in the early morning when the water is as flat as a pancake and the fish are jumping, in search of Aboriginal rock carvings along the shoreline.

You can also bushwalk into the adjoining Marramarra National Park straight from the back of the property, exploring the eerie ruins of an abandoned hotel from Federation times at the top of Calabash Point.

For the ultimate do nothing experience however, you can throw out a fishing line straight off our private pontoon, which has bream and flathead teeming underneath and is one of the best fishing spots north of Sydney.

A double kayak with lifejackets and fishing rods & equipment are provided at the Lodge for guest use.

Seaplane transfers
A wow factor arrival to Berowra Waters can be made with a splash via a return seaplane flight from Rose Bay or Palm Beach, with a red carpet landing right in front of the Lodge. The plane can even deliver you directly to the Lodge\'s private pontoon - so you can step out in style! We can offer you exclusive prices with our partner companies.

Fine dining at Berowra Waters
For the ultimate gourmet experience we highly recommend making a reservation at Berowra Waters Inn during your stay, which is only a short boat trip downriver and like the Lodge, is water-access only.

The Inn reopened late last year under the stewardship of Forty One head chef Dietmar Sawyere to widespread acclaim. It also recently won the Best New Restaurant toque in the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide for 2008.

The Inn also provides VIP transfers for Calabash Bay Lodge guests to and from the restaurant in their private punt, so there\'s no need to worry about driving the lodge\'s boat back after a few wines. It also gives you carte blanche to enjoy all the matched wines accompanying the degustation-only menu.

There are also a number of other restaurants in Berowra Waters and its vicinity which are either accessible by boat, water taxi, or a short drive, including the Garden House, Waterview Restaurant and Peat\'s Bite. We are happy to make bookings on your behalf upon request.

We can also organise a fresh seafood platter, which is a good dinner option on the first night when all you feel like doing is relaxing in front of that view!

Very Late Check-out... our exclusive special offering

In our busy lives, a weekend away is a treasured opportunity to leave our everyday cares and stresses behind.

That’s why ALL our weekend packages include an exclusive Very Late Check-out option - that is, our rates include 3 nights, not just 2, so guests can arrive on Friday afternoon & check-out Monday morning.

As Calabash Bay Lodge is only a 45 minute drive from the Sydney CBD, that means you\'ll get TWO full days of relaxation, instead of rushing back to real life on Sunday morning. We think you should make every minute of your valuable weekend away count towards the ultimate in relaxation & indulgence.

How do I get here?

Calabash Bay Lodge is situated in Berowra Waters, at the southeast edge of the Hawkesbury region and only 45 minutes drive from the Sydney CBD via the F3 freeway, or 1 hour from Sydney\'s international and domestic airports. The Lodge is also reached easily from Sydney’s north-west and west via the M2 and M7 tollways, the Central Coast and from the Hunter Valley on a pleasant tourist drive via the old Pacific Highway.

Visiting from interstate or overseas?

If it\'s your first time to Sydney and you\'re keen to take in all the sights, Calabash Bay Lodge is a great alternative location to base yourself for a week while experiencing the ultimate Australian waterfront lifestyle. The attractions of Sydney City are only a 45 minute drive away, the Hunter Valley wine region only 1 hour away, and the Blue Mountains only 90 minutes away. We can arrange transport from the airport or the Lodge to any location you desire.

Guest Reviews

  • "Calasbash Bay was definitely a home away from home. The pictures and summary of the home are an exact portrait of reality. Spending the weekend with 3 other couples was lots of fun. We fished, cooked and boated together and had an absolute ball. The house is set out perfectly and we never felt like we were getting in one anothers way! Even though it rained it gave us a real opportunity to spend some quality time with one another. Highly recommend! I have already recommended Calabash to lots of people and have 2 friends that have asked for the details. "
