Description

“Hansen’s on the Headland” is perched on the cliff top at Crowdy Head with uninterrupted views north over the ocean to Mermaid Reef, Diamond Head and Panoramic views over Crowdy Bay National Park.

This newly renovated fisherman’s cottage features two separate living areas, polished floorboards, ceiling fans, a BBQ on the fabulous newly added back deck, freshly renovated bathroom, and a well equipped kitchen with dishwasher. It is perfect for families or groups of friends and easily sleeps ten across four bedrooms with two queen beds and six generously sized bunk beds. Pillows and doonas are provided.

You can feel yourself unwind as you walk up the ramp into the spacious all on one level ideal getaway.

The craggy cliffs at Crowdy Head are renouned for rock fishing, while board-riders are drawn to the surf on South Beach – also known as Back Beach – and calmer waters for swimming are found on Crowdy Beach in front of the lawns of the lifesaving clubhouse.

Crowdy Beach, with its little take away shop is patrolled on weekends and school holidays. Its sandy foreshore sweeps twelve miles around to Diamond Head, while the more secluded Back Beach runs four miles back to the township of Harrington

Hansen’s on the headland welcomes families and friends to stay in this tiny portside town in the home of one of Crowdy Head’s first fishing families. The home itself has been in the family for almost half a century.

Should Hansen's on the Headland not be available for the dates you require in the school holidays, ask about our 4 bedroom beach house at Old Bar where you can walk to shops, cafes, club and beach.

Location

“Hansens on the Headland” is located at Crowdy Head in the picturesque Manning Valley River and Rainforest Coast Region between Forster and Port Macquarie. 3.5 hours drive north of Sydney or 1 hour south of Port Macquarie and a 15 min drive from the North Coast Freeway.

You’ll enjoy a fabulous cliff top location on prestigious Pacific Drive, which sweeps around the headland taking in the panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and hinterland. With a permanent population of less than one hundred people and no vacant land for sale, Crowdy Head remains one of the untouched treasures of the Mid North Coast.

Nearby

A short stroll down the hill from Hansen’s is the picturesque harbour, where rocky breakwalls house a small fleet of commercial fishing vessels and provide safe waters for launching leisure and fishing craft. The port is also home to the Crowdy Head Co-op, open seven days a week supplying the area daily with fresh local fish, king prawns and bugs.

Neighbouring Harrington just a 5 minutes away also offers ideal family recreational activities with a breakwall, lagoon, beaches, river and another boating harbour. While you’re there, collect your groceries and supplies and have lunch and enjoy the water views at the popular Harrington Hotel, Harrigan's Irish Tavern or one of the quintessential local fish and chip shops.

There are many neighbouring country towns and seaside villages to be explored each with their own unique attractions offering a wide choice for short drives or day trips. Surrounding areas include Harrington, Diamond Beach, Moorland, Hannam Vale, Johns River, Old Bar, Wallabi Point, Manning Point, Tinonee, Wingham, Hallidays Point, and the River City of Taree.

Take time in advance to arrange a fishing charter with one of the local operators, and bring the binoculars because dolphins and migrating whales are regular visitors to Crowdy’s headland.
