Here is what a vistor has written about their stay...

"My husband and I spent the weekend at Orion Cottage, which is lovely with it's fantastic outdoor area complete with day-bed and bbq, perfect for those warm evenings. The cottage is located between the trees, looking over a marina. Just lovely! This luxury cottage had everything you need, complete with sharp knives to matching stylish fridge and dishwasher. The cottage has been equipped in style instead of somebodies old junk. Although there is a TV, hi-fi, etc, it's the kind of place that just wants to make you relax and read your book. There is also a great library of books (which I might go back just for that!) in case you finish your book while there.
The kayaks were great fun and we enjoyed kayaking around the marina and stopping off for coffee. The other islanders are very friendly.
We will definitely be back next summer to enjoy this cottage again. "

  • "I spent the Easter weekend here and what a lovely place it is to get away from the Sydney rat race, and all this within under an hour from the city. Water access only to idyllic Scotland Island ensures an instantly slower pace as soo as you arrive and it was so relaxing to lounge languidly on the day bed and catch up on my reading whilst enjoying the beautiful Pittwater vista with a few glasses of wine! The house has it's own private deep water jetty which further adds to its tranquil and secluded feel. The cottage is tastefully furnished and very comfortable; and the kitchen in particular is very well catered for for budding chefs. It was a 20 min scenic water taxi ride to Newport for lunch and the sunset later that day (and every day we were there in fact) was spectacular! Highly recommended and so close to Sydney so entirely do-able for a short weekend getaway! Brilliant. "

  • "I just spent a long weekend at Orion Cottage and loved it. The house is stylish and very well equipped and the owners have thought of just about everything to make your stay comfortable. The kayaking was great fun and we caught good sized bream off the private jetty for dinner - just at nightfall seems to be the best fishing time. I have started planning the timing of my next visit already!"

  • "This is the most perfect holiday house. Set amongst the trees but overlooking the water on this peaceful island it is a superb location - and only half an hour from the CBD! The cottage is beautiful and the fixtures, fittings and decor are all first class, adding a touch of luxury to this cosy retreat. Having kayaks available means that your break can be as energetic or as peaceful as you like. We loved paddling round the island, but equally sitting by the chimenea in the evening playing backgammon in such a fantastic setting was unbelievably relaxing. I cannot speak highly enough of this property. The owners were extremely co-operative and helpful and there is not one thing I would change if it were my own holiday home. Brilliant!!"

  • "We stayed a week and wished it could have been longer The Cottage is well above the water and the views are stunning, especially at night. Make sure you bring your camera There's a wonderful variety of birdlife on display just outside the front door. You can even catch fish off the jetty Don't worry about the weather. It rained for 3 days and made no difference to our holiday. The bookshelves are stacked with holiday reading. If it rains, you just have to lie on the sofas inside to read and listen to music - instead of lying on the daybed and hammock outside on the deck The ferry ride is just like a harbour cruise on Pittwater (but don't tell them or they'll bump up the fares) We highly recommend Orion Cottage! • "If you can have a secluded, lovely retreat but also have it be conveniently accessible to waterways, then you would have this lovely accommodation! My husband and I booked a week here and wished we could spend even more time. Having a mooring right at the dock allowed us to access our boat across the way at Pittwater. The owners have thoughtfully provided kayaks for use. And within the retreat, the furnishings and provisions are comfortable, modern, and homey. We definitely recommend this booking and will tell others in the States all about it! One note if coming to the house from the Orion Cottage dock; the stairs are quite steep and curvy, so pack your luggage lightly, or just treat yourself to a beer once you get inside! The secret advantage of the climb is it gets you in shape while being scenic!"

  • "Arriving at the ferry wharf, I was anxious to commence my weekend escape. The local ferry arrived right on schedule and gave me a real sense of community! I stepped off the boat and made the sea side walk to the path that lead me to the "stairway to heaven"! What a sensational view! Talk about being amongst nature. Nestled amongst a stunning tree canopy with water views, the balcony provide the idyllic location to enjoy a glass of wine and cheese plate! The home has everything you could want for your hideaway with a great selection of books, a DVD player and comfy couches. The finishings are very stylish and give that luxurious feel of a real treat. I had such a lovely stay and one of the best sleeps in years - I will definitely be back!"
