Guest Reviews

  • "Somewhere Unique lived up to expectations and then some. Idyllic surroundings, decadent luxury and enough remoteness to ensure your privacy - what more could you ask for? The images on the website really don't do the property justice, you need to see it to believe it. Somewhere Unique is - quite simply - somewhere unique. Like many other couples we set off from Sydney for a weekend of romance and relaxation and that is exactly what we got. Close enough to visit all the wineries easily, yet remote enough to truly relax. The perfect destination for our weekend and the perfect location for a wedding proposal, of course I said YES! Our warmest gratitude to Michelle and Grant - thank you for your hospitality, we will be back! "

  • "What a wonderful place! My partner is accustomed to the finer things in life and he was initially nervous when I said I would organise a break for us (on my budget). Well, he was as stunned as I. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, every detail was thought of (oil burner + oil), the privacy and peace .... It was the best time and money I have spent in a long time!"
    Michelle, April 2009

  • ""Firstly I want to thank Melanie Morschel for the most friendly and efficient way you handled our booking when made over the net from the UK ... nothing was too much trouble for her! Then... to arrive "open mouthed" here in this breath taking wonderland, a setting of peace and tranquility was so amazing ... to step inside and find such contemporary and luxurious fittings with every finishing touch one could think of an ABSOLUTE credit to Melanie her Mum and her husband! I couldn't believe my eyes they had thought of every minor detail, bikes to ride on, picnic hampers to take with us...I went around every cupboard and took photographs of EVERYTHING! Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the most beauiful tranquil views and to lay in bed and see the Kangaroos...I didn't want to leave. I could write you a book! Thank you so so much for letting us share in this beautiful paradise - I have told everyone about you!" Deanna and Steve D & S, North Yorkshire UK "

  • "This really is somewhere unique! Excellent romantic, secluded location with brilliant attention to every detail making it a calm and relaxing place to stay. We had a fantastic time and can't wait to come back!"

  • "The setting was lovely, close to the town centre but still in the trees. Night walking with a torch was a highlight. The accommodation felt really exclusive and the midweek rates made it highly affordable. This property will be a return destination for us. Oh, and the cafe in Wollumbi was the perfect compliment in food and service. Overall a lovely destination for a short break or a great place for a longer stay."

  • "This is a well appointed retreat with all of the little extras. The exceptional privacy we were afforded made us feel as we were the only people in the world. Breakfast provisions were ample and tasty. The attention to detail at this property was amazing and we had a truely relaxing time. Fabulous comfortable bed, lovely towels and so warm. The eco friendly orientation is a definite plus and the DVDs, iPod dock (although a little complex to work out how to use even with instructions) were all used by us. It was a treat for us to see so much bird life and wildlife. Loved the bath and shower. This was our first time to the Retreat and having stayed in the Hunter Valley previously, we would head back here again if the opportunity arises."

The location was very beautiful and quiet and the accommodation was gorgeous. Waking up in the clouds every morning...loved, loved, loved it ! It was worth every penny and we cant wait to come back!
