"We all enjoyed staying at Top House over the recent long weekend. As we had visitors from the UK, I was after a place that gave an idea of the architecture of an era. The house was very comfortable and had all that we needed. Very nice touch of having the bottle of wine, which was thoroughly enjoyed.
House has a lovely aspect and great views and its close enough to down town to walk down and catch a bus back up.
I'd recommend the place warmly.

  • "Our family of five enjoyed staying in Top House for four days. It was very cosy and comfortable, especially with the lovely beds and bed linen. The house had a wonderful old-fashioned feel to it. After driving around Hobart pointing to all the beautiful old houses, it was wonderful to be able to stay in one, while also being close to the city and all it offers. Thank you for making us so welcome."

  • "Great location and base for our week in Hobart, corner shop, cafe, and Italian restaurant on corner. House very comfortable and the 4 of us really enjoyed being able to have breakfast at home and sit in the yard at night for a glass of wine. Would recommend Top House for your stay."

  • "What a great find this house was. It is very hard to find a place that has accommodation for two adults but this place had everything that you would need plus more and had heaps of character. The beds were extremely comfortable, the fire was warm, the backyard was gorgeous, the kitchen was more than adequate (except no freezer). Thank you so much, we will be back. "

  • "OUR STAY AT TOP HOUSE WAS EXCELLANT. MUCH BETTER THAN MOTEL/APARTMENT ACCOMMODATION. EVERYTHING FROM THE FIRE PLACE, THE VERY COMFY BEDS AND THE GREAT VIEW OF HOBART HARBOUR FROM THE ATTIC, HELPED MAKE OUR HOLIDAY A VERY PLEASURABLE AND RELAXING STAY. THE CLOSNESS OF THE CORNER SHOP AND THE GREAT PIZZA RESTAURANT TOPPED OFF THE STAY. 9/10 ONLY DOWN FALL WERE THE HILLY STREETS WHEN WALKING, THANK GOODNESS FOR THE BUS SERVICE."

  • "My husband and I and our two children stayed at this accomodation for 5 nights and found it to be quite wonderful. In addition to being roomy, comfortable and conveniently located, the house had great historic appeal, though not furnished in a manner that was too fussy to relax and for children to romp about. The garden was well-tended with herbs for cooking, flowers and good trees for the children to hide under. Being rather keen environmentalists, we were happy to add to the well-established compost. The beds and other furniture were very comfortable and amount of linens and cooking pots and untensils were more than sufficient, though the knives could use a sharpening. The wood-fired heater in the livingroom was atmospheric and effective. We appreciated the provision of teas, cocoa, coffee, sugar, olive oil, honey and milk, as well as a few emergency packets of pasta and tuna. It was great to walk down the hill into Hobart and be able to easily catch a bus uphill at the end of the day. The location of a garage next door was a bit of a concern at first, but it must only do very light work, as we never heard any noise, despite our bedroom backing it. Privacy was never an issue as blinds and curtains are on all of the windows that face towards the street or other properties. We really liked the Hill Street Market with it's great produce section, nice cheeses and deli items. Our Hobart friends say it is one of the best in the city. We hope to stay a Top House again on our next visit to Hobart."
