Tantarra, just 1 hour North of Hornsby and 2 minutes drive to beautiful Lake Macquarie, offers you a unique Bed & Breakfast experience, where you can spend time contemplating in our tranquil Asian style gardens, sip wine by the pool or relax in your well appointed bedroom. We also include a cooked or continental breakfast for you each morning and we are pet friendly.

Although Tantarra in many ways is a traditional Bed and Breakfast, (a very large house divided into two distinct areas, the host living area, and a totally separate guest area. The guest area has been designed to offer you a choice of a Queen Bedroom for two or you can combine our whole guest area for family or group of up to six.

Queen Bedroom (sleeps 2)

We have two individual Queen Bedrooms, each with their own modern private ensuites, fresh towels, extra pillows, quality shower products, hair dryer, tea and coffee making facilities, TV, air-conditioning and small refrigerator to keep your refreshments and special bottle of wine chilled.

Your room is connected to a comfortable guest lounge area with its own private external access; also the pool area and temple gardens are available to you both day and evening.
Your breakfast includes a choice of a Cooked Breakfast or a Continental Breakfast and served to you either by the pool, or in the guest lounge area. Candle light Dinners are also available with notice and on request.

Guest Suite (sleeps 6)

If you are a family or small group of friends looking for private and exclusive accommodation, you can book our whole guest area as a Private Group Suite accommodating up to 6 guests for a very reasonable price.
By booking our whole guest area as a Private Group Suite, you incorporate exclusive use of our two Queen Bedrooms plus an extra Double bedroom - each with their own modern private ensuites. You and your guest also have full private use of the guest lounge area. Each guest in your group also receives a Cooked or Continental Breakfast each morning.

Escape The World, Relax & Unwind.

As guest of Tantarra you have full use of our pool area and temple gardens. The pool area is wonderful for use both day and night. The full-size pool, bohemian daybed , tables and chairs, b-b-que , deck lounges, and shaded raised lounging platform are all set into tranquil south-east Asian style gardens. With subdued evening lighting and soft music this very peaceful and romantic area has an almost resort style feel about it. Also, our temple garden is a place of meditation, solitude, peace and harmony. Candles, and incense, enclosure and nature make this the perfect place to unwind and forget your cares.

What To Do

Lake Macquarie offers a wonderful place to picnic, sail or undertake some water sports, swim, dine out at our many restaurants or just explore. Why not try “jazz in the park” every Friday evening throughout summer.

If you have the time and would like to explore a little more, the magnificent hunter wineries are just a short 45 minute drive away and the thriving city of Newcastle, with its beaches, shops, great history and cosmopolitan feel is only a 20 minute drive away.
