  • "Our stay could not have been better. A peaceful, relaxing, enchanting place, with only the birdsong and occasional moo echoing through the valley. A perfect getaway, only made better by Dawn's amazing cooking and both Dawn and Tim's welcoming hospitality. We will be back."

  • "Lochiel Cottage was the perfect getaway from a busy life in Byron Bay..we wanted to also give our 3 children a true farm/fishing experience and we couldnt have found a more perfect place and friendly hosts....Dawn and Tim. The cottage was very comfortable and warm...the river just picture perfect...we would adventure every day and walk/fish/picnic/swim....along the river and then come home to a a scrumptious home cooked meal....as a true holiday for me is not cooking every night and the fact that i could be far from any restaurants and i could have a first class meal every night was perfect !!! We hope to make it an annual getaway! Thankyou Dawn and Tim and your beautiful children.... "

  • "I gave some good friends a weekend at Lochiel Cottage. They had a wonderful time. They needed a break and they got it. The Cottage was a place of tranquility, with lovely surrounds and it was delightful for them to be able to watch the many platypus. Inside was comfortable and it was great to enjoy the view and relax with a good book. The cooking was out of this world: fresh and tasty (and the wagyu beef was a treat)! Having hosts who were friendly, nearby, but left us to ourselves worked really well. A fantastic place for a weekend or more, and would suit a couple or two or a family."

  • "After a long drive it was fanastic to be welcomed by Dawn and relax in the comfortable Lochiel Cottage. Great place with lots of extras like dvds and fustal for the kids and heating for chilly nights. We enjoyed being on the farm, the animals and view added to the experience. Also the camp fire and a chance for the kids to ride a horse made this stay a memorable one. Thankyou Dawn and your family for a wonderful stay."

  • "New England country hospitality at its finest. I highly recommend it. Dawn and Tim are some of the friendliest people in the world. Be sure to try out their cooking. Tim's dishes would make Kylie Kwong proud, and Dawn's cheesecake was easily the best I've tasted. The surrounding is peaceful and tranquil. It is right next to the beautiful Macdonald River, where you can go fishing. The rooms were graciously presented. This is the place to come to get away from it all. "

  • "We took our three kids to visit beautiful Lochiel Cottage for some quiet family time and it was wonderful, we all had an absolute ball. What a gorgeous place owned by some truly gorgeous people! The scenery was superb, green grass, stunning river and a delightful, clean cottage with all the conveniences you could ask for. We were thrilled to find toys in the cottage to meet the ages of our kids, a bookcase full of diverse and interesting literature, games to play, DVD's and videos on hand, a fabulous deck with a bbq overlooking the amazing river....and right outside, a place to build a fire and toast marshmallows all night like. Just loved the drinking water, can't beat a rainwater tank. This is the perfect place to get away from it all, retreat from the buzz of your hectic life and watch the river drift by your backdoor, ahhh can you hear the serenity? Fish, eat, drink and relax, what more could you want on a holiday? Uralla is just a short drive away and the General Store had everything you could need, I even managed to find a really nice light red to sip with lunch there :-) We LOVED Lochiel Cottage and cannot wait for our next Lochiel adventure...soooooon!"

  • "We had an absolutely fantastic weekend staying on banks of the McDonald River at Lochiel Cottage. Our three children did not stop playing on the farm and the camp fire everynight gave us parents some time off. This coupled with Dawns magnificent cooking made the trip very memorable. Could not recomend it more highly."

  • "This is a fabulous gem, wonderful cottage, clean with lots of added extras needed for a comfortable stay. A beautiful and tranquil property. Dawn and her family were welcoming and made us feel like old friends. Their t bone steaks off the property were to die for and the potato bake is unforgettable. Don't miss the fresh cooked bread and breakfast hamper. Thanks for such a wonderful and relaxing stay. "

  • "Such a lovelyy peaceful spot. We got up at 6 am to sit by the river and watch the platypi hunting their breakfast..magic. We also saw a wallaby swim the river, so many birds, dragonflies, frogs, turtles and lizards. A comfortable and well-equipped cottage, I miss the back deck already."
