Description

Escape to Elsewhere.

Elsewhere Retreat is a secluded haven set in 40 acres of bush and rolling hills complete with its own meandering creek as well as rose, native and herb gardens. Graced with cathedral ceilings, picture windows, open fireplaces, wrap-around verandahs and all modern amenities your comfort and peace is assured. All linen and firewood is provided.
At Elsewhere, there is plenty to do or nothing to do...the choice is yours. As a guest in January 2009 said...“Jonathan and I speak constantly of Elsewhere Retreat and its peace and beauty. In my mind\'s eye, I can still see the beautiful clear blue sky and the stars at night. I\'ll be \'retreating\' to Elsewhere in my mind whenever things get too stressful!“

About \"Elsewhere\"

The 4 bedroom house is fully self-contained, sleeps 8 comfortably and has sweeping views from all rooms.
There are 3 bedrooms each with a Queen bed and another bedroom containing 2 single beds which can be clipped together to form a King bed if preferred. All beds are fitted with electric blankets, crisp white linen and woollen duvets. There are also oil heaters in each of the bedrooms and overhead ceiling fans.
The bedrooms are serviced by 2 bathrooms (1 is a 2-way en-suite) with shower and separate bath.

The living areas of the house have cathedral ceilings, 2 fireplaces, overhead ceiling fans and large picture windows from which you can view the distant escarpment and rolling hills.
There are comfortable leather sofas and arm chairs to seat 8, country style dining setting for 8 and kitchen bar stools.
The living room also houses the satellite TV, video, DVD and CD player and the library of CDs (over 130), videos, DVDs and books as well as numerous Board Games.

If you prefer the great outdoors, you can swing in one of the four hammocks or sit in one of the deck chairs on the wrap-around verandahs and look out for kangaroos and echidnas or just wile away the time with a book from our library. If you like activity, there is pole tennis to play, bikes to ride or a football to kick.

The kitchen is fully equipped with modern European appliances (including dishwasher and microwave), quality pots and pans, utensils, crockery and cutlery. In addition we have a European Saeco Espresso coffee machine so that you can make your own professional standard espressos!

For al fresco dining there is a 7 burner BBQ and outdoor table with market umbrella as well as tables and chairs on the verandah.

To make your stay even more relaxing, we can organise a beautician to visit the house and provide whatever pampering experience you choose (fees apply) and/or we can organise for a local caterer to home deliver some yummy fare either hot or cold. (Fees apply)

We can also provide a travel cot and highchair if required

Guest Reviews

  • "Stayed at Elsewhere during a brief visit to Australia, we just wished that we could have stayed longer at this wonderful home. Louise & Andrew have invested so much of themselves in this property you feel as though it's your 'home' for the stay, they've thought of just about everything. Roo's arrived 10 minutes after we did & that set the atmosphere, peace, quiet & so much space. We just sat back on the verandah & enjoyed the bubbly that they had left as a welcome!"

  • "Elsewhere welcomed us from the second we stepped inside. The interior spaces are open, light and airy, comfortable and easy to relax in. Beds and linen were crisp, clean and cosy. Bathrooms were easily accessable with everything necessary to help visitors feel straight at home. Even though we had rain on Friday, wild winds on Saturday, and cold breezes on Sunday, everything was perfect. We lit the fire, ate great food (with the help of the lovely kitchen and appliances), listened to music, watched a DVD, played games, rode bikes, swung in the hammock, read on the veranda(even if we had to be shrouded in blankets), played totem tennis, went for walks around the property, and generally enjoyed the silence, views, and animal life. What a fantastic family weekend! What an amazing way to let the stress drift away, and the brain 'chatter' to quiet down... we'll definately be back... but for much longer next time! Thanks to Louise and Andrew for sharing this lovely location. "

  • "Comfortable, well appointed, fantastic outlook. A relaxing place to do very little."

  • "Elsewhere is not only beautifully appointed and sublimely located, it is run most professionally. We loved its sense of isolation. We loved the interior spaces. In fact we appreciated so many of its aspects including the wonderful herb garden, using the rosemary to flavour the bbq lamb and the basil in the salad. Its spaces allowed us to entertain the ebb and flow of visitors attending a family gathering nearby. We relaxed in deck chairs with chilled champagne as the sun went down over beautiful Australian countryside. We have to go back because we simply loved it and there's so much more to do than time allowed. We recommend this property to those who love to get away from the madding crowd, immerse themselves in the beauty of our country whilst indulging in great comfort and style. It is worth every cent. "

  • "Comment from Sue O'Riordan on 2/5/2005 Comments During the Anzac Weekend 2005, my husband and I together with another couple had a glorious break away from our city life and headed to "Elsewhere" in the stunning Megalong Valley. A breathtaking homestead with verandahs all around on 40 acres of divine countryside. Rolling hills and unbelievable views. Sitting back of an afternoon in the hammocks with a glass of red and watching the sun set... oh what a life! An amazing retreat which we will definitely return to. You must experience "Elsewhere Retreat" at least once in your lifetime. You won't be disappointed "

  • "A tired and testy group of 4 co-workers spent a couple of days 'Elsewhere' in the Megalong Valley during February. We arrived at 9pm in the dark, and immediately set about exploring the wonderfully comfortable home .... cosy fire, CD's, yummy welcome basket, luxuriously cosy beds - even a bottle of Champagne. We had a creative and productive two days of planning, interspersed with bush walks, furiously active totem tennis matches, lazy times in the hammocks listening to Eric Clapton and BB King, and evening drinks and BBQ's on the verandah gazing at the stars.I can't imagine a better place to have had this experience.
