Description

Secluded and special, Bimbimbi at Mackeral Beach makes the perfect getaway for two,or an ideal holiday destination for a family. Situated against the green hills of Ku-ring-gai Chase National park, in one of the little bays of Pittwater. With sleeping space for four, and eating areas to expand for more, the house has all the ease and flexibility a beach house needs. Its front gate is an arbour, its front path a raised walkway with bridge, creek and resident ducks. The approach to the house, a gentle stroll from the beach, through grassland and bush finds echoes in the house itself as both unfold like a journey. A venture into domestic design by architect Bruce Eeles, it won him an award.

Features

At the house, a twirl of spiral steps brings you to a viewing platform and a screened porch. To the right, living room, dining room and kitchen areas curve round to sleeping spaces, one a private room with artists studio behind. All look onto the inner court, with its series of stepped-down timber decks. The veranda is encircled on three sides by the house and on the fourth by a wall of huge cedar louvres, hinged vertically to swing open for breezes or to close for privacy. This interplay of screened spaces, open decks, transparent walls and windows placed to control the views are used in masterly fashion to bring the outdoors in as an element of design.
Champagne & chocolates on arrival, provisions for full hot breakfast supplied and a four person sauna completes the relaxation formula.
Please note: due to our location in a National Park, no pets.

Getting there & Local Attractions

Mackeral beach is accessible only by ferry from Palm Beach, with no cars and streets of grass. Ferry departs for Mackeral Beach on the hour daily - Timetable phone .

Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park lies at the place where the Hawkesbury River meets the sea. Wildflowers grace the sandstone ridges, and dense forests cling to the slopes. Guest Reviews

This was our second stay at Bimbimbi - a beautiful home in a fabulous location. Barry and Carol certainly know how to look after their guests, providing lovely personal touches such as home-made Anzac biscuits, and fresh flowers to name just a few. We spent our week lazing around, playing beach cricket and swimming with the kids... Barry even took the 'big kids' for a sail - an amazing experience!

We just spent a relaxing and lovely two nights at this property. Party consisted of 2 adults and 3 children. Highlight of the visit was walking to Resolute Bay, a beautiful untouched part of the National Park on the trail north from the beach end. We spent a lazy Saturday afternoon watching the boys fish. The birdlife encountered featured kookaburras, lorrikeets, magpies, bush pigeons, bush turkeys and ducks. It was easy to cook and barbecue in the home. We played lots of games and cards at night. I enjoyed a sunny afternoon on the central deck with a cup of tea and some magazines. Everything was easy to find and take care of.
