Description

Sanda House is an 1840 Georgian farm house (Heritage listed) made of field & sandstone. (We are a traditional Bed & Breakfast, not a selfcontained house.) The Rose, Jasmine, Mulberry rooms are Q size. The Wisteria room has 2 singles. Each has it's own bathroom. The rooms are for 2 people only. Furnished with our collection of antiques and bric-a-brac and surrounded by an orchard, old gardens, vege patch, chooks and Chester, the Labrador. Peace and quiet with a glimpse of the bay, which is a stroll away. For breakfast - Home baked bread, good coffee, our own jams, cereals, fruit, yoghurt in front of a wood fire. Come and feel the stress draining away. 10min walk to the pristine beach and cliff walks.

Location

We are situated in Orford on the sunny east coast of Tas, centrally located between Port Arthur, Richmond,Freycinet and Maria Island. Sanda House can be used as a base for day trips to these places. We are 1h from Hobart. Coming from Hobart, turn right at the bridge into Charles St, follow to the end, then sharp left turn into Walpole St at the Sanda House sign.(no.33). Coming from Swansea you will drive over the Prosser River, then straight ahead up Charles St., then as above.

Local Attractions

Maria Island is a National Park rich in history (predates Port Arthur as a penal settlement) and interesting natural features. It is reached by ferry (summer & winter timetables). A few doors down is a 10min walk through the forest, following the creek to the beach. You will have this to yourself most of the time. Views to Maria Island. Stunning just on dusk! Try the local scallops,oysters etc.
Excellent golf course looking out over the bay. Only 9 holes but challenging. Sanda has quality clubs for use by guests. There are many opportunities for walking around the coast with stunning views. You may prefer to sit in the garden and watch the many robins, honey-eaters and wrens. A great place to unwind. Orford has a famous woodfired pizza cafe. Need to book! Supermarket, Post Office, newsagent, hotel, cafe.
