The living area is in modern, airy surroundings. Indulge in homemade afternoon tea or relax in the guest lounge. With at least 8 seperate table d'hote menus no two breakfasts are ever the same.
Then stroll 100m to two of McLaren Vales finest restaurants. A five minute walk will take you to the local hotel and Bistro. At the far end of town is one of the Fleurieu's most noted restaurant, The Salopian Inn. McLaren Vale has been synonymous with fine wine for more than 150 years. The region has more than 60 wineries and approximately 270 independent grape growers. The 45 Cellar Doors beginning on Adelaides doorstep at Old Reynella and clustering around McLaren Vale, McLaren Flat, Willunga and Aldinga.
One of the many delights of visiting McLaren Vale is the abundance of regional produce; olives, olive oils, almonds and turkeys!. These indulgences can be enjoyed at the numerous restaurants and retail outlets.
The stunning beauty of the region can be enjoyed by driving Tourist Route 60, which starts from the town. A short drive away are fabulous beaches, heritage listed Aldinga Scrub, Heysen Trail, specialist nurseries, Victor Harbor and Cape Jervis - stepping off point to Kangaroo Island.
McLaren Vale is less than an hours drive from Adelaide.
It is a charming township surrounded by more than 50 vineyards and wineries. The vast majority have their own cellar door, where tastings and sales are available. On every side there are fields of grapes and sign posts at various points with invitations to visit cellar doors. Olive trees dot the landscape. McLaren Vale has a maritime Mediterranean climate, warm to hot dry summers with moderate winters.
The region boasts kilometers of white, clean uncrowded beaches, such as Christies, Sellicks and Maslins (Australia's first nudist beach). These are found along the coast of Gulf St Vincent. A short drive away is Port Noarlunga, with an underwater trail for snorkeling and scuba diving.
The Onkaparinga River wetland trail offers a board-walk and abundant bird life within a recreation park. There are several trails with graded bushwalks to explore the gorge. This park is full of native trees, birds and reptiles. The 20 Conservation parks on the Fleurieu Peninsula offer untouched scrubland, home to kangaroos, koalas, emus and reptiles. The Heysen Trail (Australias' longest footpath) and Kuitpo Forest are great for walking.
There are plenty of Art and Craft shops, Plant Nurseries, Chocolate Factory, and local produce. Throughout the area, there is an enticing variety of restaurants expressing themselves through the areas local produce. The Salopian Inn, The Barn, Limeburners, Star of Greece and dArrys Verandah, among others.
Events in the region, such as Sea & Vines in June, Almond Blossom Festival in July, Fleurieu Biennale Visual Arts Festival in November attract both local and international visitors.
