Description

Graceful gums frame a delightful view of the ocean in the cosiest of cottages made just for two. Light-filled and pretty with polished floorboards, soft rugs, cushions aplenty and fresh, modern decor, it's an idyllic place to rekindle your romance. Cook up a storm in the sleek, well equipped kitchen. Toast your toes in front of the fire as you watch a movie. Listen to music while you gaze at the stars by the warmth of the chiminea. Then, lie down in your comfy queen bed and let the sound of the waves lull you to sleep.

Wake to laughing kookaburras and wander down the hill for a coffee or a morning walk on the beach. Whether you lush away the day on the sunny deck, watching the antics of the koalas, head out for an energetic bush walk or take a drive to the other sites on the Great Ocean Road, Delila is close to Wye River's amenities, and is the perfect couples' retreat.

Meet the local wildlife

Delila is an easy walk to Wye River beach or meander along scenic Paddy's Path to Separation Creek, taking time to spot an echidna or check out the gorgeous ocean views. You may even be lucky enough to see pods of passing dolphins or whales with babies resting in the bay on a winters day.

Secluded in a forest surround, Delila's large deck is the perfect place to watch the local wildlife. Feed the colourful king parrots & rosellas, be amused by the comical cockatoos, but don't forget to save some meat for the Kookaburra family of five who visit regularly or they won't be happy! Spot a koala or three from your chair or take a walk in the surrounding bush to see even more of the furry creatures.

After a busy day, wander down to the pub or cool new cafe for an evening meal, but the wildlife spotting doesn't stop here. Watch for sugar gliders sailing from tree to tree at dusk and listen for the distinctive call of the owls. You could also look for the glow worms, but you're probably exhausted by now, so enjoy your meal.

Guest Reviews

  • "Every morning the koala with her baby clinging to her back would lumber up the tree right next to the house. Then came the rosellas, in a flurry of blue and red, so timid, yet we managed to feed them by hand. Next, the hooligans - the screeching cockies, pushing all their feathered friends out of the way. Kookaburras, magpies and tiny finches all fluttered by. With the sound of the waves, the smell of eucalypts and the cosiness of our cute cottage with its roaring fire, fluffy cushions and comfy bed - it was the perfect break for us. When can we come again?"

  • "We absolutely loved our stay at Delila, its perfect for a quiet getaway for a couple. We had the open fire and BBQ going all long weekend and enjoyed the company of rosella's, cockatoo's and kookaburra's each morning. An easy walk to the beach or pub i would recommend a few nights at Delila to unwind and take in wye river and its surrounds."

  • "Our trip to Delilah was absolutely wonderful. The cabin is situated on a hill, sorrounded by luscious greenery, with views overlooking the beach and the tree canopy. The beach is a 8 min walk from the cabin. We loved bird watching on the deck in the mornings and star gazing at nights. We even caught two shooting stars! There were many interesting nature trails around as well. "

  • "We had a spectacular time. The house is great, a perfect spot for two people. It's pretty special to be relaxing on the balcony with koalas lounging in the nearby trees and the bird life is incredible! With the constant roar of the ocean and the beach just a short stroll away this is a fabulous spot to spend the weekend."

  • "We had a superb time. The shack is extremely well furnished and equipt with everything that you could possibly need. We felt so relaxed sitting out on the balcony watching the trees moving, the koalas perched up in the trees and the surf in the distance. Thank you for such a lovely time."

  • "We loved our stay at Delila and could only wish it lasted for longer. It is set in a beautiful location with lovely views to Wye River beach through tall gums full of wildlife. We had no problem spotting koalas each day from the deck, and the colour and variety of birds was amazing. The house itself is beautifully decorated and the kitchen was a joy to cook in. We would heartily recommend a stay at Delila to anyone considering it and hope to return in the future!"
