Description

Under 4 hours north of Sydney and less than 2 hours from Newcastle is the beautiful, unspoilt village of Seal Rocks. Recently completed, KURREKI, is a modern interpretation of beach house architecture by Bourne + Blue Architecture. Sleeping up to 7 adults in comfort, KURREKI, is ideal for families or a group of friends to experience the surfing paradise of Seal Rocks and Treachery.
Sleeping accomodation at KURREKI is made up of two double bedrooms with queen size beds and a large bunkroom with three bunks. The living/dining area, bedrooms and and bathing area all open to a private internal deck and garden. All bedrooms have wall mounted fans and mosquito nets so you can enjoy the experience of luxury camping, lying in bed and looking out at the stars.

Spend your days hanging out on the hammock deck with a good book or get active and experience all that Seal Rocks has to offer. Surf the point break at No.1 Beach with the dolphins, go snorkelling off Boat Beach or take some time to go fishing. The nearby beaches face different directions, so offshore surfing conditions can be found year round. In the cooler months spend your time whale watching from the historic Seal Rocks Lighthouse or taking one of the many bush walks in the area. Or you could spend your days curled up in front of the fire reading, talking and watching all those movies you've been wanting to see. Read about the house in Images Publishing's "100 Country Houses", published August 2009, or in Habitus Magazine Issue 5, September 2009

Guest Reviews

  • "This property offered a unique living experience. We felt like we were living comfortably within the natural environment around us. We can't wait until our next holiday at Seals' staying in "Kurreki""

  • "Just to let you know that our stay @ Kurreki went very smoothly???the house was wonderfully practical and all we needed was always at hand. We loved the eco-credentials of the property - the self-sufficiency in water and the worm farm (the worms did rather well from our stay!). We also timed our stay with the weather perfectly???whales and dolphins off the point were further highlights"

  • "We had a fantastic time and loved the house espcially the hammocks, the large roller doors and the alfresco bathroom. It was like spending the weekend on 'Grand Designs', kept expecting Kevin Mcloud to show up! "

  • "Nous avons passe un week end extraordinaire dans cette summer party house. Pas loin des plages et de marches bien sympa. Un surf de top qualite a Trechery point. All good Mate! "

  • "we had a fantastic stay at Kurreki: lovely weather, lovely beaches, lovely house... a seriously lovely house. Kurreki is thoughtfully built around a private and beautiful courtyard into which all rooms can be opened. The living space can be easily closed off for protection from mosquitoes and the weather, giving you all the benefits of outdoor living in a your own private and sheltered oasis. We were particularly impressed by the luxurious feeling of the shower area, discreetly tucked away behind the water tanks. The toughest thing about our time there was leaving. "

  • "What a fantastic holiday home! Kids and adults alike loved being in this well-designed space. Always cool even on the hottest days. Plenty of room. Practical. We could not ask for a better palce to have a family holiday."

  • "Kurreki is a fascinating inside-outside house, and as such adds design interest to a superb beach and forest environment. The kids loved swinging on the hammocks that the owners have kindly provided for them."

  • ""There's nothing better than eating chocolate in a hammock in a house shaped like a doughnut" Joe, aged 6."

  • "Fantastic! Great holiday AND "architectural experience" - not often you get to stay in a house designed specifically for "holidaying" in - the house "works" differently to a normal residential house. Great for groups, beach and sand etc. Clever partitioning of spaces (when needed) but open and integrated at the same time. Came back with some great ideas for my dream holiday house just through living in the space for a few days."
