Description

Launched in October 2008, the Cottage on Combadello is for those seeking self-catering luxury accommodation without interuption. A beautiful three bedroom cottage with luxury appointments throughout. The Cottage is nestled on the ridge leading to the top of the Liverpool Range and has amazing views that are not interupted by neighbouring or distant houses/buildings, with no through traffic! It has been said the views are that good that if you look hard enough you can see the back of your own head. A feeling of secure seclusion takes over as you begin to understand the privacy this unique valley offers.

Booking Combadello Cottage gives you the Cottage and it's 100 riverfront acres to yourself as well as exclusive access to the northern side of Towarri National Park, the only entry to the northern side. Wander or picnic by the river, enjoy bushwalks, nature watching or just relax at the Cottage.

Accommodation
The Cottage has three bedrooms. The main is a king and the second bedroom is a twin, both have spectactular views across the valley. The third bedroom is ideal for kids with bunk beds and a desk.

The Living room is fully appointed with luxury furniture and fittings (ipod dock, dvd player with dvds, play station), including a slow-combustion wood fire-place which heats the whole cottage. The kitchen is fully appointed with an attached dinning area seating six. The bathroom has a bath and shower. The toilet is freestanding and the laundry is fully equiped with tub, washing machine & dryer.

The veranda (fully enclosed) 50sqm is huge and offers a dining table and lounge area with 2 huge beanbags for complete relaxation. The veranda overlooks the valley and distant mountains - perfect for relaxing and toasting the sun going down while listening to the flowing river.

Pets
Pets are welcome at Combadello, the Cottage is surrounded by a fence enclosing the lawn. The fence is electrified - this can be switched off if it concerns you, however it is designed to keep animals out of the lawn area. There is a pet box on the veranda with blankets, towels, bowls - all you could need for your pet.

Wood Fired Pizza Oven
Relish the joy of creating and cooking your own pizzas in the wood-fired oven, roasts are also amazing. Outdoor gas Bbq also avaliable. Instructions on how to use the wood-fired oven & BBQ are available in the guest information book

Activities

Combadello offers many options to fill your stay. It's seclusion, altitude and proximity allow you to decide how active your time at our retreat shall be. Obviously acivities favour those enthusiastic about outdoor delights. Some of the obvious choices are.

Climate

Combadello enjoys a magnificent climate with an annual mean maximum of 28.5 C and minimum of 6.4 C. Summer days can exceed this, however evenings are nearly always cool and sometimes cold (we have had December nights of 0 C). In winter, the days are generally mild to cool and the evenings cold – often sub-zero, making an evening in front of the fireplace a joy. The mountain sunsets place Combadello in their shadow a few hours early all year round and the Cottage veranda is an excellent place to sit, relax and enjoy the sunrise or sunset.

We enjoy a high rainfall of around 46 inches giving us permanent water. Even in drought, clear waterholes remain. With such a high rainfall and given the geography of the valley, flash flooding can occur and this should always be taken into account when walking along the river or creek. Weather conditions can change quickly on Combadello and this should also be taken into account when venturing out for extended walks.

Winter Snow is not uncommon, with some years providing settled snow down to the Pages River, obviously if Combadello is under Snow then Towarri NP and the Liverpool Ranges will be under even more. It makes for a spectacular sight, gazing over the white of Combadello down to the green of the valley towards Murrurundi, further highlighting the seclusion and beauty this property offers.

Summers on Combadello, like all of Australia can pose a fire risks as the Spring grass dries out. Fire bans are notified by NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) and National Parks and Wildlife Services (NPWS) warnings should be adhered to when entering Towarri NP.

Guest Reviews

  • "A really remote and beautiful location. So nice to hear nature without cars in the background. A real live wombat encounter was icing on the cake. Great for humans and dogs alike."

  • "Wow. I usually go away and return home more buggered than before I left. The opportunity for adventure is deffinatly an option but for once we all sat back and relaxed!! We usually cant do that but here it was easy. Great views. Cute little creek to paddle around in....crystal clear....tastes great!! Harry put some lovely and classy touches into this place. The cat has never been so happy. She is an indoor cat and took to your humungus verandah like a lizard on a rock. And the pizza.......yum! I will be back. Thanks Harry."

  • "What a great place. A fantastic and very private escape from city life. Our two German Shepherds had the time of their lives. The deck is enormous with full fly screens that backs onto a great lawn. There's all the mod cons you could want but it's back to nature at its best. We spent most of the time taking in the uninterrupted views during the day and enjoying a cracking fire in the evening. The only problem we had was getting the dogs to leave. Using the woodfire pizza oven is for the next time we're back!"
