Derwent Vista is a fully furnished 1980's self contained villa with absolute waterfront to the Derwent river and great views of the river, yachts at anchor, Mount Direction and Gunner's Quoin and is located at 10 Harbinger Lane Austins Ferry off Austins Ferry road.
Derwent Vista is an ideal base for business or pleasure as it is close to major businesses and tourist attractions and the Brooker highway which is the main route to Tasmania's west and north from Hobart. To get to the property you actually drive past the corner of historic James Austin Park where the first ferry in Tasmania and second oldest building in Tasmania are located.
Derwent Vista is rented short to medium term at competitive rates and is suitable for business people looking for somewhere to stay, a retreat or quiet place to work or holiday makers keen on sampling the many attractions that the Hobart region is famous for.
Derwent Vista is self contained and fully furnished. The property has three bedrooms and the master bedroom has an en suite bathroom/toilet. There is also a large separate bathroom with separate toilet and wash basin. The modern fully equipped spacious kitchen has wonderful views and there is a separate laundry. On the deck there is a barbecue.
The property is equipped with fridge, stove, washing machine and drier, TV, stereo etc. Towels, linen, salt, pepper, coffee, tea, and enough milk to get you started are also provided. Derwent Vista sleeps up to 9 people and one baby (See Room/Bed Configuration). All main rooms have wonderful views of the Derwent River and Mount Direction. It has a large riverside garden dominated by an ancient bhutan cyprus hedge and a very old elm planted by Lady Franklin.
The property is bordered to the east by water and by parks on the west side of Harbinger Lane. The local Yacht club and launching ramp are close by and shops and public transport on the old main road are both a short walk away and easily accessed by vehicle.
Derwent Retreat is situated in the Hobart northern suburb of Austins Ferry located only a 5 minute drive from the city of Glenochy, 15 minute drive from the Hobart CBD and at the gateway to Tasmania's magnificent Derwent Valley with it's many attractions. Cadburys, Richmond, Salmon Ponds, Alpenrail and Bonorong Wildlife Park and Claremont Golf and Bowls Clubs are all close by.
The property is in a historic area surrounded by water or parkland on three sides and is located immediately north of the local Yacht club and launching ramp at the end of Austins Ferry Road which are both a short walk away and easily accessed by vehicle.

A Woolworths-Safeway Shopping Centre is one kilometer away. The Cadbury chocolate factory is very close and one of the oldest National parks in Australia, the Mount Field National Park is less than an hour and a half away. Within two and a half hours you can travel to most destinations in the state including the Derwent Valley, Huon valley, Port Arthur and east coast.
On or adjacent to the property are a basketball court (non professionals only), swimming in the Derwent, boating or just walking in the parks. Within two km are golf and bowling facilities. If you bring a bike you can use it! The Derwent provides opportunities for white water canoeing or jetboating further upstream at the historic town of New Norfolk or enjoy a more relaxing time playing golf or bowling at local clubs.
Tasmania is endowed with every activity possible from jetboating to skiing, from mountain climbing to some of the best walking in the world. Snorkelling or surfing, fishing or just snoozing on a beach are all within an hour or so of Derwent Retreat. For those who like dining, nightclubing or gambling, Hobarts inner suburbs of North Hobart and Salamanca are just a 15 minute drive away and Australias first licensed casino, Wrest Point is just a 20 minute drive away.
Salamanca market is a must on Saturday and Moorilla winery is very close to spend the afternoon listening to jazz and tasting their wares. Book a tour of the Cadbury chocolate factory and indulge in chocolates. All are within easy reach of Derwent retreat.
