Description

The Church offers everything you will want for a fantastic retreat to Victoria’s premier wine growing region – The Yarra Valley.

Surrounded by beautiful countryside, The Church gives you the opportunity to experience the idyllic vineyard settings, while enjoying the character of one of the area’s oldest establishments.

Originally built in the early 1900s, The Church and its pristine winery surrounds are easily accessed from Melbourne's CBD. In just one hour drive, you can escape from the hustle and bustle to this peaceful residence, five minutes north of Yarra Glen.

The Church stopped holding mass in 1996. Generations of congregates have filed through the old green doors, now a stylishly renovated one-bedroom, fully self-contained house.
Enjoy a glass of wine by the fireplace, or unwind overlooking the De Bortoli winery. However you choose to relax, The Church is a welcoming place to return.

Close to Wineries

This beautifully converted church is ideally located in the heart of the Yarra Valley wine region. ‘The Church’ backs onto the famous De Bortoli Winery and a short walk through the vineyard will deliver you to De Bortoli’s well-known restaurant, cellar door and cheese room. ‘The Church’ is perfectly located for enjoying the fine wines and the great food of the Yarra Valley.

Great Restaurants

This great holiday house has more than 5 fantastic restaurants within 2kms, and well renowned eating establishments such as the Healesville Hotel are also very accessible from ‘The Church’. For those wishing to self-cater ‘The Church’ is fully self contained and is a fantastic location to enjoy the views, summer days or snuggle in front of the open fire during the winter months.

  • "My partner and I together with our two small children enjoyed two months in this quirky cottage nestled amongst the vineyards and rolling hills. If you are in seach of peace and tranquillity this is the place. We have many fond memories of the time we spent here: curling up in front of roaring fire in a cold day, dining ang pottering round the colourful garden when the sun was out, relaxing in this deceptively spacious cottage. An additional bonus was seeing kangaroos at the back of the garden. Also just a stone throw away there is one of the most renowned wineries of the region with its fine restaurant."

It is a cosy converted small church with a mezzanine floor overlooking the main lounge area and accessible by a spiral stair. It has all facilities, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and a f/standing cast-iron fireplace supplemented by a split=system r/cycle heating. You only have to bring your own bed linens etc Very comfortable and Highly recommended."
