Nestled on the flanks of Mount Buckaroo, the Mudgee Homestead Guesthouse is a stunning, purpose-built, Federation-style guesthouse ideally situated on 40 acres only 5 minutes from town. The homestead looks like a classic Queenslander - a beautiful, elevated house beneath a red iron roof, wrapped in a wide, sweeping verandah which majestically overlooks the Mudgee Valley. Guests are rewarded with the area’s most spectacular panoramic views of the distant hills and surrounding vineyards.

The guesthouse boasts seven delightful guestrooms each of which are unique. What they share is an inviting, romantic décor, private ensuites and French doors -- most of which open onto the verandah – just the place for watching kangaroos graze in the mornings or the sun set over the hills and vineyards in the evenings.

The guesthouse features two guest lounges. The Fireside Lounge is decorated in a rich Federation-style colour scheme and furnished with overstuffed couches surrounding the open fireplace – perfect for curling up with a good book and a glass of port. Downstairs is the newly constructed Billiard Room which has been designed in the style of an old Australian shed. Clad in corrugated iron and recycled timber, the room features a billiard table, darts, chess board, plasma screen and a bar, perfectly suited for watching the big game with a group of friends or challenging your partner to a game of snooker.

In addition to the delightful, leisurely breakfasts, a highlight of any weekend stay at the guesthouise is the chef-prepared Saturday evening meal. Enjoy pre-dinner drinks and canapes on the verandah (or the bar downstairs in cooler months), followed by a 4-course meal of elegant fare served in the formal dining room. To finish off the experience, port, coffee and homemade chocolates are offered in the lounge. No need to call a taxi -- your room is only steps away.
