Description

Wake to the sound of breakers on the shore at Austinmer’s Glastonbury Bed and Breakfast. Beautifully appointed and decorated rooms await you. All of this is just a short walk through Glastonbury Gardens to unspoilt Little Austinmer beach - a glimpse of how Sydney used to be.

An easy walk to buses and the train station, or bring your bike and explore the famous coastal cycle-path all the way to Lake Illawarra. (Bike rentals can also be arranged in advance.)

A stylish and serene, self-contained 1-bedroom apartment, Glastonbury Bed and Breakfast offers comfort and privacy. We provide full breakfast provisions, including good quality teas and coffee. We provide organically-grown food when-ever we can, and can cater for special dietary needs if advised in advance.

A separate entrance leads through your own courtyard to a sunny living/kitchen area, with a modern, fully-equipped kitchen, a flat-screen TV with DVD player and a library of films and music. There is a separate bathroom off the hallway. Your bedroom has a leafy outlook to the park, and the sound of the ocean to sooth your soul.

Location

Enjoy beautiful Austinmer, nestled between the Illawarra Escarpment and the Tasman Sea. Austinmer is the jewel of the spectacular Illawarra coast. It is part of the area known as the Illawarra ‘Northern Villages’, which boast wonderful cafes, restaurants, shops and galleries.

Austinmer is one and a quarter hours on the train or an easy one-hour drive south of Sydney. Twenty minutes on the train or in your car south to Wollongong.

Local Attractions

A clean, safe, patrolled beach, Austinmer Beach has two tidal sea pools to enjoy. Watch for the whales and dolphins swimming past, or take advantage of the surf.

Drive or walk along the headlands to the north and the Royal National Park. Or go south to the thriving centre of Thirroul, with fantastically-decorated Anita’s Theatre, shops, pool, and nursery, and on to the city of Wollongong. A short walk takes you up the spectacular, tree-covered Escarpment, or just enjoy walking to the local cafes and shops.

  • "The accommodation was well appointed - full of little luxuries and very clean. The kitchen facilities were terrific and we enjoyed being able to make ourselves at home in the Glastonbury B&B. The hosts are lovely, generous and helpful ladies. We look forward to staying here again!"

  • "We were really quite taken with the beauty of this part of the coast and Glastonbury B&B was perfect for us to relax and enjoy it all. We particularly enjoyed the privacy and 'apartment' nature of the B&B and made good use of the kitchen as we like to cook. We also appreciated the extras thoughtfully provided in the fridge and the lovely bathroom products. We shall certainly be recommending to our friends and will be back next time we seek an easy weekend away from Sydney."
    Helen, July 2009

  • "Everything about this place is divine. The location, the organic food, the organic hair and body products supplied. The Laura Ashley towels and sheets...ahhh and the complete seperation from the house so you don't have to communicate with your "landlord" should you not want to. However, should you have a conversation with these lovely ladies, you will find that they have put every bit of attention into the detail to ensure your stay is comfortable, luxurious and easy. Highly recommend it to anyone from a quick weekend get away, to a long vacation on the beach..."

  • "This B & B was one of the best I've stayed at. Jill made us feel very welcome and it was also very private. The suite is very spacious with a huge bathroom, living area and separate bedroom, all with lovely furniture and rugs. The bathroom is also brand new and was full of lovely products - much nicer than home! The food provided for breakfast was delicious and plentiful, including organic produce. The outlook is green and leafy with a beautiful native garden and the beach is just a short walk across the park. The kitchen is fully equipped and brand new so if you wanted to stay for a few days there is everything you need to cook meals. I couldn't recommend this place enough! "

  • "This apartment is very tastefully appointed and has all things necessary to aid comfort and relaxation. The inclusions, from breakfast makings to bathroom essentials, are of high quality standard and generous proportion. While the apartment is only 10 minutes' walk to the beach, it is located in a quiet street - nice to find a little haven from the summer crowds & traffic. I'd definitely stay at Glastonbury B&B again."
    Marilyn, February 2009
