Participate in a nightly Penguin Tour (bookings essential), and wonder at the nature on your own doorstep.
Drive about 3kms to the Bicheno township, or take the walking track from Redbill Beach into town, and enjoy the marvellous sea-scapes along the way.
== As Jill of Brisbane comments - A brilliant position with a magnificent view of Diamond Island and the ocean as just a start . A very comfortable house prepared with thought so that everything the holiday maker needs was at hand. We look forward to another stay there == ( March \'09 )
Situated on the magical Tasmanian East Coast, Bicheno is an equal distance from Launceston in the north and Tasmania\'s capital city, Hobart in the south of the state. Home to thriving fishing and aquaculture industries, Bicheno is flanked by famous wineries on either side of the town.
Diving and fishing charters operate out of the town on a regular basis, as do the fairy penguin tours - a must see.
For the keen golfers, there is a 9-hole course adjacent to the beach, and surrounded by native trees. Just a few kms north of the town there is the Douglas Apsley National Park and 20 minutes south, the iconic Freycinet Peninsula and Wineglass Bay.
Natureworld, north of the town is home to many Australian native animals including wombats, Tassie devils, kangaroos, wallabies - the list goes on.
There are well maintained walking tracks following the coast around the township, and a seahorse aquarium at the historic and stunning natural mooring, \"The Gulch\". Take a ride on the Glass Bottom Boat and wonder at the incredible sealife.
The main town centre has a range of craft shops, surf shops, restaurants, eateries, bakery and an art gallery. Internet access and banking is available in town.
