Things To Do

Visit the nearby vineyards of the world’s newest officially declared wine region…New England Australia. Whilst judging at the New England Regional Wine Show in 2007 Chair of Judges Mr. James Halliday commented "There is no other region that has come on stream with so much to offer as the New England".

Try our regional produce. Specialist niche food markets flourishing in the district, such as wine, gourmet cheese, value-added meat products, trout, olives, pasta and berries, pome fruit & fruit wines.

Markets in the Mall are on the last Sunday of each month. Here you will find plenty of local produce, wonderful plants to lure the avid gardener, a tempting variety of home-baked cakes and international food stalls and an abundance of vibrant arts and crafts.

Check out the New England Reginal Art Museum - Home to the Howard Hinton and Chandler Coventry Collections.

Visit Dangar’s Lagoon Wildlife Refuge just outside nearby Uralla. More than 110 bird species have been recorded here.

Take a tour along the Waterfall Way….a must after good rain. These waterfalls are among the tallest in Australia.

Tackle a Trout in a clear mountain stream or bag a legendary Bass in a waterhole in the headwaters of the Macleay River system.

Strike it rich…all that glitters is not only gold…it could be a sapphire, garnet, topaz, diamond, zircon, or silver just to name a few of the many precious gems and minerals that might turn up in a fossicker’s muddy wash.

Perhaps you just want to play…there’s golf, tennis, squash, canoeing, rock climbing, aerobics, basketball, indoor cricket, sailing, horse racing, goat racing, swimming, football, netball, archery, tai chi, ten pin bowling, darts, cycling.....

Guest Reviews

  • "We visit a lot of self contained cottages in NSW and Queensland and we thought we'd had seen it all; however, this stay was very special. The cabin was just beyond excellent, the hosts were simply delightful, the scenery was breathtaking and they also make very drinkable wines to boot! Sue has thought of everything to make your stay just fantastic and peaceful - Mother Nature has done the rest. I just don't know how she can bare to let this cabin out - leave the kids at home and do your marriage a favour by visiting this cabin. (P.S.: Not having TV is a triumph!"
