Southerly Clifton Beach is surely one of Australia\'s best kept secrets. Designed in 1996 by award-winning architect Craig Rosevear. This house is one of Tasmania\'s most recognized and prized houses. Featured in Belle Magazine, Houses Magazine, Beach Houses of Australia, Architecture Now and many others. The iconic glass and steel structure sits atop the dunes becoming a 360 degrees viewing platform to the Southern Ocean, the dunes and through the lush vegetation to the lagoon.
On arrival meander the seventy metres boardwalk through native garden up to the house.

The house

Once entering the first floor the funky staircase entices you to the upper level. Upon arriving at the top floor, suddenly you experience what Southerly is all about, WOW, what a view! Full 180 degree ocean views.
The main living area is 90 % glass, in fact the house is basically a glass house. There are floor to ceiling windows in nearly every room. Speaking of rooms, the house features three bedrooms. One main bedroom with queen bed, one double bedroom, and, for the children, a room with bunkbeds.Please understand that the 5th bed is a sofa-bed if you wish to sleep 8.Also there are two state of the art bathrooms.One with large glass open shower, basin,and toilet,and the other with a bath and toilet with laundry facilities included.Heating is paramount,so ceiling heating has been installed which is a very cosy heat.

Attractions

Enjoy private access to Hobarts premier Surf beach. Awake to the sound of the lapping waves and enjoy the continental breakfast provided. Relax with lovely evening strolls along the beach all the way to Cape Desclase which is the home to shearwater muttonbird colonies. Other attractions being only 25 minutes to Hobart\'s various cafes and restaurants, art galleries and other city attractions including Mt Wellington. Visit historic Richmond only a 20 minutes drive away, spend a relaxing afternoon exploring this convict built village, feed the ducks and treat yourself to a Devonshire tea. Wineries are not far away either. Explore Australian history at Tasmania\'s premier tourist attraction, the prison colony Port Arthur. Or just take it easy and spend the day on the large decks, relaxing and enjoying the views.
