Description
The Bromfield Room is a spacious air coditioned room with queen sized bed and ensuite bathroom .It was the original homestead kitchen with butt jointed hardwoodwood floor and retains the original brick bakers oven and peel. It also includes an open fireplace, floor rugs, mini bar, TV, DVD player, ceiling fan, fridge, tea and coffee facilities, couch and lounge chair.
The Hope Room is an air conditioned room with a queen sized bed and ensuite bathroom. An extra single bed is available in this room. The room has polished baltic pine floor, high ceiling, attractive liberty fabrics and a romantic 4 poster iron bed.It also includes floor rugs, mini bar, TV, DVD player,tea and coffee facilities, ceiling fan and couch.
The Hayes Room is an attractive carpeted double room with ensuite. It has a brass and iron bed, TV, Ceiling fan, mini bar fridge, tea and coffee facilities and heating.
The South Wing
The self contained South Wing includes the air conditioned Gilpin Room with queen sized bed, ceiling fan and TV , The Edmundson room with queen sized bed, heating ,ceiling fan and TV, a bathroom ensuite to both rooms, an attractive carpeted sitting/ dining room with mini bar, table and chairs , couches, TV, DVD player, and ceiling fan and heating. There is a kitchenette with microwave, fridge, toaster, electric frypan, glasses cutlery and crockery and tea and coffee facilities. Outdoor tables and chairs and a barbecue with a wok burner are also available.
The rooms may also be booked to include in house breakfast and with one or both bedrooms.
A two night minimum booking applies to the South Wing.
Elliminook
Elliminook is set on 74 acres at Birregurra near Lorne on the Great Ocean Road. The Homestead, set in a large garden, was built in 1865 and is classified by the National Trust of Australia. It is built of local handmade bricks with slate roof. In 1908 it was described as a "commodious brick homestead of 14 rooms". It has been owned by local farmers until 1981 when Jill ,an interior designer,and Peter, a local lawyer, bought it as a home to raise their family.In 1992 following extensive renovations and additions Jill and Peter opened Elliminook for guests. They have won awards for the property and garden and have hosted the State Governor on his visit to the Shire.
Facilities include a modgrass tennis court, garden crouqet lawn, boules, guest sitting room with open fire place, an attractive dining room and wide verandahs. The house is tastefully furnished with antiques, artworks and many period artifacts. Selected wines and beverages are available for sale.
The hotel and shops of historic Birregurra are a 5 minute.
