The area

The river is 400m away. At the river you will find a walking path that takes you south to the famous Colourpatch cafe - last cafe before the South Pole. North takes you into town past the riverfront houses and private jetties.
A short drive takes you to Flinders Bay and Granny's Pool where the kids can swim or play in the large playground.
The local hotel provides counter meals and a 'cook your own grill' on the weekends. All of this can be enjoyed while overlooking the Blackwood River and Ocean views.
The bakery is a must but get there early as it gets really busy in the summer months. They also do great pizzas.
The town centre is only a five minute walk back up the main street and includes a large IGA supermarket, post office, liquor stores, a great gift shop and large newsagent.

Within a short drive you have Caves Road which will take you to some of the best wineries in Australia; numerous limestone caves you can take guided tours through and specialty food and gallery experiences.

  • "We stayed as a family unit - 6 adults and 3 children 2 - 6 years. We ALL had the best long weekend in this very clean, comfortable, safe and well set out home. Apart from towing the boat to river, there is no need to get in the car. Everything is in safe walking distance. Wonderful holiday."
    Josephine, June 2011

  • "Fantastic holiday house with everything you need for a home away from home. Plenty of room to park cars and a boat. Being on the main road it can get some traffic noise but this is not a problem between dusk and dawn. I would thouroughly recommed and am looking forward to my next stay !"

  • "We had a great stay - the house is a perfect getaway from the big smoke. Our 3 children loved the upstairs kid's retreat and made the most of the Wii! A well appointed house - all the mod cons without being over the top - very laid back, yet comfortable. A great location - can walk to the town centre or IGA for supplies. Highly recommended, and we would definitely stay again."

  • "We stayed at this property as 3 couples, leaving our children at home. The layout was perfect, and the kitchen was able to provide crockery and cutlery and cooking facilites to create a gorgeous dinner party. The location was ideal with morning walks to the waterfront and an evening walk to town for dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will be back again."

  • "This was our second visit to this welcoming house. The facilities and equipment provided are second to none and we had a wonderful time. Summer or winter, this house is in a great location - a good walk up to town or around the waterfront. We look forward to our next stay."
    Gillian, December 2009

  • "An absolute gem of a holiday house with an excellent array of modern conveniences. For the culinary minded the kitchen is well equipped with professional utensils (even a decent set of chef's knives) & the dishwasher helps you enjoy the holiday even more- less time washing up & more time with the vino! Top marks all round. The Wii was a real bonus for the kids too."
    Mathieu, March 2009

  • "This is an awesome holiday retreat equipped with absolutely every amenity required/wished for supplied in the house from top quality appliances and cookware to comfy beds. The big screen TV/DVD down stairs is great, and having upstairs set up for the kids is even better. With the gates installed on the stairs, you can be sure the kids are safe. Fantastic location in town, and heaps of room for a boat of any size. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. "
