Spacious, open-plan living, dining and kitchen areas plus huge outdoor, undercover decks. All very stylish, practical and very comfortable.

The lush South Coast region of NSW is renowned for its wineries, food products and aboriginal culture as well as for its natural beauty, deserted beaches and native bushland.
Features- The Full Story
Lakewood is a self-cater retreat, very privately situated - as close to Swan Lake as one can get. Swanhaven is on the edge of this inland lake just in from Sussex Inlet. The lake and its crystal clear swimming beach is 50 m away... the empty, pristine surf beaches are just a 15 minute walk away.
The house is perfect for three couples who enjoy a high standard of accommodation and facilities. It is ideal for longer holidays.
THE COURTYARD BEDROOM includes an enclosed, spacious garden courtyard with outdoor shower and furniture. A TV/DVD, security safe, bar fridge and tea-making facilities, generous cupboard and hanging space for your clothes and belongings are all provided. It's a large, relaxing room with high ceilings and an outlook to the lake reserve.
THE LAKE BEDROOM, again with en-suite, looks to the bush reserve and the still waters of the lake. Waking up to this view is a treat. An outside deck connects through sliding doors.
THE GARDEN BEDROOM contains shelves of magazines and books... novels, biographies, and general topics. This bedroom uses the main bathroom next door. Wide doors give access onto the main undercover, garden deck. The room looks onto exotic and native mature trees in the near distance, and to our orchard and gardens.
All bedrooms have queen beds dressed with pure wool blankets, quality linen and an assortment of pillow styles to suit your preference. For day-time naps, curtains will block out the room to darkness and total privacy. Ceiling fans, insect screens and great lighting will add to your relaxation.
The LIVING AREA features a large lounge with an open, gas fire in winter. It forms part of a flow-through dining, kitchen, deck space that keeps everyone involved in the fun. A good selection of DVDs and board games is maintained for you to enjoy... as well as the TV/DVD/iPOD dock with theatre system. Our wi-fi internet if free.
The DINING table has many drawers of accessories nearby - place mats, paper napkins, silver-plate cutlery, and a wide choice of crockery, serving platters and bowls to suit every need and mood.
You'll love the KITCHEN - a wide bench for casual breakfasts or preparation; dishwasher, five-burner gas stovetop, large refrigerator/freezer, pantry with spices/herbs and essential dry goods. A separate area allows preparation of coffees/teas/toast and is also a wet bar. There are plenty of wine racks and glasses for your drinks.
A compact LAUNDRY houses a front-load washer and efficient dryer. A clothes line is conveniently set just outside the back door.
The house is so FULLY EQUIPPED, even with linen, bath and beach towels and so many kitchen appliances/pantry items, that you will feel welcomed as if you were staying in your own home. We aim for you to feel spoiled and relaxed.
A separate STUDIO adjoining the house, has two single beds and can be booked to provide additional accommodation if needed for up to an additional two guests @ $100 per day. This room has lots of board games and books.
Huge outdoor DECKS, mostly undercover, provide more living space. Big tables, perimeter seating, cushions and lounges all add up to sheer comfort.
The house is set in nearly an acre of well-maintained GARDENS. Feel free to wander and relax.
Just 50 m or so through a cleared bush reserve in front of Lakewood and you're on the sandy beach of SWAN LAKE. This lake fills with rain runoff and, every three years or so, pushes out across the dunes to the ocean. The lake provides good fishing and a very safe swimming (no sharks or stingers!) and recreation area together with picnic tables, BBQs, stunning sunsets across the water, and easy bike/walking paths to the next township and shop/cafe/news/petrol stop (CUDMIRRAH).
You can also cut through to Cudmirrah Surf Beach - a three km stretch of deserted beach front, patrolled at the northern end in the summer. Kirby's Beach, Berrara Lagoon and Monument Beach are all interesting walks. A year or so ago we had four adult Humpback whales and two calves taking time out from their migration, just off the beaches, for three weeks, while the newborns gained strength.
EXTRAS: We can arrange breakfast and food hampers, massages, tours - incl joy flights and whale watching in season. How can we help make your holiday more enjoyable?
LOOKING FOR LIKE MINDS: We love Lakewood and want you to feel relaxed and very spoiled while you are staying here. You'll find many touches that will make your stay memorable. Whilst we do provide an end-of-stay clean and laundry of all linen and towels in the tariff, a particularly difficult clean and any damage will be charged for.
The house is a non-smoking venue. Your booking will be for an agreed number of guests only - no extras. The house is not a party or function venue. Children by arrangement. No pets.
We wish you to become Lakewood regulars at one of Australia's most beautiful environments. Thank you.
Things To Do
You'll happily spend your time around just the house and lakefront, but there are lots of local attractions and tour highlights nearby. Sussex Inlet, which is the ocean inlet to St. Georges Basin, is 13 km off Princes Highway and just 2.5 hours from central Sydney.
Swanhaven is just 5km from the facilities at Sussex Inlet. Restaurants, shops, supermarkets, cinema, clubs, markets, the Ocean and Earth surf clothing factory outlet, sporting facilities (incl pool) and churches are all close by. There is a nearby golf course, fishing, surfing, even whale watching in season.
Markets are held at least once a month in Sussex itself with extra activities during school and public holidays.
If you have more time to venture further, consult our website for a myriad of attractions.
BERRY and KANGAROO VALLEY are just to the north of the Shoalhaven's centre at NOWRA.
You could drive further down the coast to the lovely small town of MILTON, full of antiques, art and cafes. Explore the fishing fleet and harbour at ULLADULLA, eat well at RICK STEIN AT BANNISTERS restaurant at MOLLYMOOK, or do a day trip to BATEMANS BAY and to the many craft shops and famous zoo at MOGO.
Just to the North is stunning Jervis Bay... HUTCHINSON, VINCENTIA AND HYAMS BEACH are all worth a visit. We are in the centre of it all.
In 1995, Booderee National Park and Botanic Gardens, on the southern foreshore of Jervis Bay, was transferred to the Wreck Bay Aboriginal community, which leases the area back to the Australian Department of the Environment and Heritage. The name, means 'bay of plenty' or 'plenty of fish' in the Dhurga language. It's a great place to visit. The beach there at Greenpatch is also a popular destination, and is said to have the whitest sand in the world.
One and a half hours inland is historic BRAIDWOOD - a noted arts community with gold-mining credentials. You'll have unforgettable bushwalking experiences in the Morton, Budawang and the Deua National Parks too. Canberra's attractions are worth a day trip too - just two hours to our national capital.
