Wild Olive Cottage is very luxurious, built in 1859, authentic on the outside, but super modern inside. The cottage is rated 4 stars by the RAA & SATC, it is well equipped and fully air-conditioned. It is set in beautiful, award winning gardens, quiet and private, yet walking distance from Cygnets restaurant, Pyes Café and The Rising Sun Hotel (very good meals) various antique shops, wineries and the Riesling Trail.

The cottage was built in 1859, and is Heritage SA and National Trust listed. It has been through many lives over a hundred and forty years, including tea rooms, library, mechanics institute, sweet shop and a few others. The cottage has been extensively, and expensively, renovated to make it in to a luxury B&B and is designed to provide bliss and luxury for one couple.

Designed to be Bliss For Two

Upstairs is a magnificent, Victorian antique, nickel and silver iron Queen-size bed. There is a luxurious black leather suite, with armchairs, and settee. The open fire is wonderful to sit round on cold nights, (iron combustion stove) and there is plenty of things to entertain yourself with- HDTV, DVD, VCR, CD, tapes, a movie library, games, books, etc. Within the cottage, there are some beautiful pieces of furniture and original artwork, much from local artists. Of special interest is an antique Polish love seat, made in the 1800’s about the same time as the cottage was built.

An internal metal spiral staircase joins the two floors. Down stairs you will find a fully equipped gourmand kitchen, the benches are topped with Mintaro slate and the cupboards are Blackwood. There is an under-bench oven, glass cook-top, microwave, draw dishwasher, the finest European glassware and crockery. From the dining area you look directly out of French glass doors on to the beautiful garden.

Everything You Could Want

Directly out of the French doors is a pagoda covered slate patio, with a teak outdoor setting, sun lounges, a market umbrella, a BBQ and some intriguing old farm implements- we are still not sure what they were for.

The cottage has a luxurious bathroom, fully tiled, with a beech-wood vanity topped with local Mintaro slate. There is a large, deep spa bath in which to luxuriate and the linen and robes supplied are all of the finest quality cotton.

There is plenty of off street parking

All stays include some quality local wine (Crabtree, Annies Lane or Clare Blue Wines- Riesling, Shiraz or Bubbly). Also, we provide free range eggs, tomatoes, local bacon along with cereals, juices, jams, biscuits, and a few surprises, etc. However if you are vegetarians, we can substitute tomatoes and mushrooms, just let us know.
