Description
This gracious old home has been lovingly restored by the new owner who knew and visited the house many, many times in the past 40 years before taking ownership. Now sporting a new crisp, clean look, complete with brand new kitchen and bathroom, the house nonetheless retains the warm ambience of a much-loved home. Whether it's to a honeymooning couple, a group of friends seeing the world, or Mum, Dad, the kids and the dog, this lovely home offers a friendly welcome, comfortable accommodation and a fantastic base from which to explore the many pleasures of the beautiful Apple Isle.
Two of the three bedrooms are master-size, more than adequately catering for couples, and the beds have been chosen to provide comfort and a peaceful night's sleep. The lounge room is freshly-polished providing casual comfort for relaxing with the family during the day, or watching television in the evening. Spotless, comfortable, friendly, and with all modern conveniences, Hillside Cottage is a wonderful place to enjoy a holiday.
The verandah is perfect for strumming a guitar or sipping a hot cup of coffee, breathing in the serenity of crisp, fresh air as the early morning mist rises from the river and the night clouds draw back revealing the panorama of mountains beyond. In the evening, the lights of the boats on the river and central Launceston beyond turn the darkness into a sparkling wonderland to be enjoyed from the verandah or the comfort of the lounge with an after-dinner fine local red.
Out and about
Hillside Cottage is only a short walk from the breath-taking Cataract Gorge. Explore its natural beauty, picnic at the first basin or take the long hike to Duck Reach. Take a 15-minute walk, or drive, into the centre of Launceston and explore its many interesting sites such as Queen Victoria Museum, Ritchies Mill, Boag's Brewery and Franklin House, or dine out at any one of the excellent restaurants or partake of the best burger in Australia.
For a wonderful day out, take time to explore the exquisite Tamar Valley with its glorious scenery and sumptuous wineries. Follow the majestic river as it winds through the valley, visiting the mining town of Beaconsfield and the aptly-named Beauty Point before arriving at the sea at Greens Beach and the Narawntapu National Park & walking trails, and you are still only an hour's drive from Launceston!
